At Bukidnon State University Alubijid Campus, students and faculty were promptly evacuated to safe zones under the supervision of the Campus Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRM) / BUKSU ALERT team. The evacuation was orderly, with staff and campus disaster officers proceeding to inspect and secure classroom buildings and facilities before allowing reentry. No injuries were reported among the campus community.
Campus authorities conducted a building-by-building safety check, looking for cracks, structural defects, or hazards, before officially clearing classrooms. The BUKSU ALERT team has worked to maintain safety protocols and crowd control.
In light of the seismic event and ongoing inspections, the university administration announced that all face-to-face (F2F) classes are temporarily suspended. Starting immediately, all classes will shift to asynchronous mode (online, self-paced) to allow for safety checks and facility repairs.
The university stated that normal F2F sessions will resume on Monday, October 13, 2025, assuming that buildings are cleared and safe for occupancy. Students and faculty were informed of the shift through official university channels (bulletins, email, social media) along with guidelines on how to proceed with asynchronous coursework.

Authorities advise everyone in affected areas to remain alert for aftershocks and to follow the โduck, cover, holdโ protocol when necessary.
Do not reenter buildings until verified safe by structural inspectors or disaster officers.
Residents and campus occupants are urged to report visible structural damage such as large cracks, tilting walls, or fallen debris to authorities immediately.
Emergency and disaster response teams will continue monitoring the situation, especially in zones that experienced heavier shaking.
While todayโs quake caused alarm across Mindanao, the swift response from university disaster teams and local authorities ensured that no casualties were reported. As classes shift to asynchronous modality and preparations are made for the safe return to campus, the priority remains on student safety and structural integrity. Officials continue to assess damage in affected communities and stand ready to mobilize further support if needed.
As the region recovers, residents and students await further advisories from PHIVOLCS and local disaster offices regarding aftershocks and structural safety.
DAVAO / MISAMIS ORIENTAL โ At approximately 10:20 AM today, a powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the region spanning Davao to Misamis Oriental, causing widespread alarm among communities and educational institutions. According to press reports, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) issued warnings and monitored possible aftershocks. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries, though early assessments suggest some property damage in affected areas.
