Forty years after the EDSA People Power Revolution, its message remains clear: meaningful change begins when ordinary people choose to lead with courage, integrity, and unity. What started on the streets of EDSA continues today in classrooms, organizations, and student councils, where leadership is rooted in service to the people.

As student leaders, we are entrusted with more than positions or titles. We are entrusted with voices. The legacy of People Power challenges us to stand for truth, protect democratic spaces, listen to those we represent, and lead with accountability and compassion. In every decision we make, we carry forward the ideals of unity, freedom, and democracy.

This commemoration is not only a remembrance of the past but a reminder of our role in shaping the future. Let EDSA inspire us to be leaders who serve, question, and act, leaders who ensure that the sacrifices of history were not in vain.

ALUBIJID, Misamis Oriental — Bukidnon State University Alubijid Campus concluded its week-long celebration of the 91st National Book Week with a series of activities promoting literacy, creativity, and the continuing value of reading and books. This year’s national theme, “Tulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa,” guided the campus' wide celebration held from November 3 to 7, 2025.

The celebration featured competitions designed to engage students and faculty in various forms of literary and artistic expression. The participants took part in contests such as digital poster making, Bookwiz, Joy Reading Selfie, and the Library Promotional Video competition. These activities aimed to showcase talent while strengthening appreciation for books and library services.

A significant highlight of the event was the recognition of Bookworm Awardees for both faculty and student categories. The awards honored individuals who demonstrated exemplary reading habits and consistent library engagement throughout the year. The recognitions highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of reading within the academic community.

The week’s activities showcased the continuing importance of libraries in supporting education, research, and personal development. By encouraging students and faculty to participate in reading–centered events, the campus emphasized the role of literacy as a bridge to greater opportunities and a hopeful future.

The 91st National Book Week celebration reaffirmed Bukidnon State University Alubijid Campus Library’s mission to promote lifelong learning and sustain a vibrant reading culture among its constituents.

Earlier this week, BukSU Alubijid Campus celebrated Teachers’ Day with heartfelt tributes and joyful performances for our amazing mentors who make learning meaningful every day!

𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙤; 𝘽𝙐𝙆𝙎𝙐 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙀𝙫𝙖𝙘𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙, 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝘼𝙨𝙮𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙨

At Bukidnon State University Alubijid Campus, students and faculty were promptly evacuated to safe zones under the supervision of the Campus Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRM) / BUKSU ALERT team. The evacuation was orderly, with staff and campus disaster officers proceeding to inspect and secure classroom buildings and facilities before allowing reentry. No injuries were reported among the campus community.

Campus authorities conducted a building-by-building safety check, looking for cracks, structural defects, or hazards, before officially clearing classrooms. The BUKSU ALERT team has worked to maintain safety protocols and crowd control.
In light of the seismic event and ongoing inspections, the university administration announced that all face-to-face (F2F) classes are temporarily suspended. Starting immediately, all classes will shift to asynchronous mode (online, self-paced) to allow for safety checks and facility repairs.

The university stated that normal F2F sessions will resume on Monday, October 13, 2025, assuming that buildings are cleared and safe for occupancy. Students and faculty were informed of the shift through official university channels (bulletins, email, social media) along with guidelines on how to proceed with asynchronous coursework.

Safety Reminders & Precautions

Authorities advise everyone in affected areas to remain alert for aftershocks and to follow the “duck, cover, hold” protocol when necessary.
Do not reenter buildings until verified safe by structural inspectors or disaster officers.
Residents and campus occupants are urged to report visible structural damage such as large cracks, tilting walls, or fallen debris to authorities immediately.
Emergency and disaster response teams will continue monitoring the situation, especially in zones that experienced heavier shaking.
While today’s quake caused alarm across Mindanao, the swift response from university disaster teams and local authorities ensured that no casualties were reported. As classes shift to asynchronous modality and preparations are made for the safe return to campus, the priority remains on student safety and structural integrity. Officials continue to assess damage in affected communities and stand ready to mobilize further support if needed.

As the region recovers, residents and students await further advisories from PHIVOLCS and local disaster offices regarding aftershocks and structural safety.

DAVAO / MISAMIS ORIENTAL — At approximately 10:20 AM today, a powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the region spanning Davao to Misamis Oriental, causing widespread alarm among communities and educational institutions. According to press reports, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) issued warnings and monitored possible aftershocks. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries, though early assessments suggest some property damage in affected areas.
