𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 | 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝

Now living the unexpected—former Managing Editor and STEM graduate of Alicia National High School, David Bhrent B. Domingo, has achieved a significant milestone through earning a DOST-SEI scholarship this June 30, 2025, aired live stream on the official page of DOST-SEI Institute. He shared that he didn’t expect to be able to get his hands on such a priceless century fruition; rather, it was only a dream far from reach. But he did it—and it was worth the shot.

𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

He heard multiple rumors wording the examination was exceptionally difficult, doubting whether he could pe*****te the list of passing scores, the passing examinees, to be exact. He wavered, yet the flame within his heart pushed him to study to his limits. He stated going back to square one.

There is nothing wrong with going back to basics, for the fundamentals are the pillars of our spiral system of education. Likewise, taking the examination means looking back to our roots, and those roots are where we can detail and evaluate the reasons and origins of the stems of our expansive education throughout the years.

So is the secret in passing the exam, Domingo personally mentioned.

𝐇𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞

“Wala namang mawawala kung susubukan ko,” words that came out of Domingo's mouth the moment he firmed his decision on proceeding with the examination.

Further back, he believed that the DOST scholarship was only for geniuses. Though it was only of hunches, hearsay, and rumors. It was hard work and a dream that resulted in him earning a junction of the scholarship's torch.

He now sees the scholarship in a holistic picture of perspective: true enough—hard work can make one infiltrate a room of geniuses.

“I see it as a duty,” Domingo mentioned, holding a sense of responsibility in maintaining the great beginnings bestowed upon him.

And so, the life of a scholar fosters national hope through scientific advancement and dedicated service. It gives us inspiration to push further and do better, not just for ourselves, but for others too. Just like Domingo, it could be someone's turn, too, the next time. Just add a sprinkle of motivation and dream to hard work, and a room of geniuses will unlock its door on its own.

𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐨, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐭!

“You’ll lose your personal freedom once you accept the scholarship,” Domingo shared the time he heard this personally through someone—and it’s patently untrue. Yes, there is a favor to return, but it’s not something to be frightened of.

After all, the favor to return is to serve the country with the years being within the scholarship radar, and being able to serve the motherland with the knowledge and experience acquired during the seasons of attending college education feels none other than fulfillment.

𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐨 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥.

And just like that, while the title "DOST Scholar" may have been awarded to Domingo, he knows the real honor belongs to God. “All glory to Him,” he says—grateful not only for the opportunity but for the divine direction behind every reviewed page, every prayer uttered, and every decision made. For Domingo, this is not a celebration of his own milestone but a testimony of God’s faithfulness in action.
