Three Filipino Metropolitan Archbishops to Receive the Sacred Pallium

On June 29, 2026, the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, Pope Leo XIV will confer the Pallium upon three newly appointed Filipino Metropolitan Archbishops during the Holy Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

Among those who will receive the Pallium is Most Rev. David William V. Antonio, D.D., Metropolitan Archbishop of Nueva Segovia. This is a moment of great joy for the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia, as its shepherd receives this sacred sign of his pastoral office and his communion with the Holy Father.

The Pallium is a white woolen vestment worn over the shoulders by Metropolitan Archbishops. It symbolizes their role as shepherds of Christ's flock, their pastoral responsibility within their ecclesiastical province, and their unity with the Successor of Saint Peter.

As the faithful of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia, we give thanks to God for this special blessing bestowed upon our Archbishop. May the Lord continue to strengthen Archbishop David William V. Antonio with wisdom, courage, and a heart of faithful service as he leads the Church entrusted to his care.

Let us accompany our Archbishop with our prayers as he receives the Pallium and continues his mission to proclaim the Gospel and shepherd the People of God.

Facilitated by trainers from Phoenix Publishing House, the training gathered educators from IDSS member schools to strengthen their competencies in utilizing LMS and designing engaging learning experiences across blended and distance learning environments.

The training was conducted by cluster:
• June 10, 2026 – Participating schools from Cluster 1
• June 11, 2026 – Participating schools from Cluster 2

Through this initiative, IDSS continues to uphold its commitment to quality Catholic education by equipping teachers with innovative digital teaching strategies that foster meaningful, interactive, and learner-centered learning experiences.

𝗜𝗗𝗦𝗦 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

June 1, 2026 — Following the solemn Eucharistic Celebration, the Program Proper of the Ilagan Diocesan Schools System Congress 2026 formally commenced, gathering school leaders, educators, and personnel in a meaningful day of learning, reflection, and collaboration anchored on the theme, “IDSS Catholic Education: Embracing Hope and Renewing the Journey, Shaping New Pathways.”

The event began with the Welcome Remarks delivered by Marie Anne J. Alejo, SOLA OIC Principal, warmly welcoming the participants and setting the tone for the congress.

A presentation of the IDSS Photos 2025 followed, presented by Mariesu M. Antonio, Ph.D., IDSS Acting Superintendent and SSJW OIC Principal, highlighting significant milestones and memorable moments of the school system.

Rev. Fr. Carlito G. Sarte, Ph.D., SOLA Director, discussed the IDSS Philosophy, Vision, Mission, and Objectives, reaffirming the commitment of the diocesan schools to Catholic education and holistic formation.

Meanwhile, Atty. Gabriel L. Galloba, Jr., CPA, IDSS Legal Counsel, discussed the Child Protection Policy under DepEd Order No. 40, s. 2012, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every learner.

During the afternoon session, Msgr. Edmundo C. Castañeda Jr., Ph.D., Diocesan Administrator, IDSS BOT Vice Chair, and SFC President, shared valuable insights through his reflection on the “Financial Vision of Discipline: On the Perspective of Management and Sustainability.”

The discussion on IDSS Policies and Guidelines was presented by Mariesu M. Antonio, Ph.D., further strengthening the participants’ understanding of the system’s directions and institutional standards.

The day concluded with the Closing Remarks delivered by Dr. Aggari, inspiring everyone to continue working together in faith, excellence, and service for Catholic education.

June 1, 2026 — The Ilagan Diocesan Schools System Congress 2026, with the inspiring theme, “IDSS Catholic Education: Embracing Hope and Renewing the Journey, Shaping New Pathways,” formally commenced through a solemn Eucharistic Celebration held at Our Lady of Atocha Parish Church, Alicia, Isabela.

The Holy Mass was presided over by Msgr. Edmundo C. Castañeda Jr., Ph.D., as Main Celebrant, together with the School Directors as Concelebrants.

United in faith, hope, and mission, the IDSS community gathers as one family in Christ, seeking God’s guidance as we continue to strengthen Catholic education and shape meaningful pathways for the future.

The Ilagan Diocesan Schools System proudly participated in the 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐄) 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫-𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 entitled “𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐀 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠” held on May 26, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Japi Hotel, Cauayan City.

The seminar-workshop gathered selected Subject Area Coordinators and Teachers currently using, or preparing to use, GRACE reports and assessment tools. The activity aimed to explore contemporary and practical approaches to educational intervention, strengthen teaching and instructional methodologies, promote early academic support for struggling learners, and further elevate the standard of education in our schools.

Through continuous professional development and collaboration, the IDSS remains committed to nurturing excellence in Catholic education and responding effectively to the diverse learning needs of students.
