SCHOOL HISTORY

Balugo National High School was found

ed in 1966 and located in Brgy. Balugo I, Albuera, Leyte. It is a rural area with mostly plains and bays. The community in Brgy. Balugo find a living through big fishing boats and cutting firewood then selling them into the market or small stores. Most people in Balugo are into simple living and are economically average leveled. While there are some who are affluent, these are those who have a family member working abroad such as seamen. Here is a brief history of Brgy. Balugo. Very long time ago, before the advent of motor vehicles, two horse riding men from a distant arrived in this place. They are known as BAL & LUGO. They were brothers with good build and at their early thirties. Their purpose was to look for a land to toil. Like what any other settlers did, they built their hut near the riverbank because it was convenient for them to cook their food, wash their clothes and take their baths. These men were very industrious. They planted various kinds of crops suitable to the land they tilled. During harvest, they brought their crops to places where there are people living. They will either sell or trade it to clothes of their personal works. Years had passed. People nearby noticed that the brothers were progressive. Many o them transferred and built their houses near the hut and the two. They observe how their farm was manned. They were taught of the procedures and followed it. They too have a better yield and they were all thankful to BAL & LUGO. In the next more years many inhabitants came. They were peaceful and happy until BAL & LUGO became old and ill and passed away. The settlers wanted to honor them. They wished to remember them forever so they agreed to name the place after the names of the brothers - BALUGO. That was how Barangay Balugo got its name.
