Educating for Eternity: Shaping Minds for God's Kingdom

Text: Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in a way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Introduction:
True education means more than the pursual of a certain course of study. Its more than a preparation for the life that now is. It has to do with the whole being and with the whole period of existence possible to man. It is the harmonious development of physical, the mental and the spiritual powers. It prepares the studentr for the joy in service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come. - Education p.13

The Essence of True Education
* not merely academic achievement but holistic development
* preparation for both earth life and eternal life
* harmonious development of physical, mental, and spiritual powers.

In the highest sense the work of education and the work of redemption are one. - Educations p.30

Education as Redemption
* education should restore the image of God in humanity.
* focus on sharacter development not just intellect.
* training for service and love.

The Word of God: Our Foundation
* the bible is the primary textbook.
* all knowldege should be viewed through the lens of scripture.
* emphasis on moral and spiritual values.

Building Godly Character
* education should cultivate honesty, integrity, and compassion.
* importance of self -control and moral courage.
*developing a Christ like character.

The formation of character is the most important work over entrusted to human beings. - Guidance p.142

Learning Through Service
* hands- on experience and practical skills.
* opportunities for service to others.
* connecting learning with real- life applications.

Teach the youth to realize that are not called to occupy positiions of prominence that all are not to possess extra ordinary talents but that all are called to perform faithfully their part in the worlds work. - Education p.267

Parents: The First Teachers
* parent have the primary responsibility for their children's education.
* creating a hristian home environment.
* working in partnership with teachers.

The mother's influemce in the home is to be paramount her words, her example are to be a daily lesson to her children. - Child Guidance p.172

The Ultimate Goal
* education should lead students to Christ.
* preparing in service for God's kingdom.
* living a life that honors God.

Let us to commit for providing an education that equips our children for eternity.
So traun the youth that they shall represent Christ in all their words and works, shiwing forth the praises of Him who hath called them out of darkness into His marvelous light. - Child Guidance p. 478
