This afternoon, the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) of Alegria National High School conducted a site assessment and coordination meeting in preparation for their upcoming Tree Growing Activity on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
YES-O President Khendra Vergara led the walk-through and identified three key planting sites within the school grounds. Each location was evaluated for soil condition, space, and accessibility, with specific numbers of trees to be planted per area already determined.
Following the assessment, YES-O Adviser Vik Melitante facilitated a short learning session on ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฉ๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ข๐ญ (๐๐๐๐). This provided officers with essential insights on the importance of waste segregation and data collection, which are also part of the organizationโs environmental action plans.
The activity marks another step forward in the organizationโs commitment to building a greener, more sustainable campus. With teamwork, planning, and purpose, the YES-O continues to take the lead in environmental stewardship at Alegria NHS.

On Friday afternoon, August 8, 2025, the YES-O officers and members of Alegria NHS successfully finalized their Whole-Year Action Plan for SY 2025โ2026.
Led by YES-O President Khendra Vergara, the planning session gathered ideas and aspirations from every member, setting the stage for a year of impactful eco-initiatives. Stay tuned for our exciting environmental projects this school year!

Alegria National High School proudly announces the newly elected officers of the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) for School Year 2025โ2026, led by Ryleigh Khendra Vergara as President.
Joining her in championing environmental advocacy are Richelyn Albarando as Vice President, Laica Niรฑa Salvaleon as Secretary, Johhana Ursal as Treasurer, Airishly Biscocho as Auditor, and Lenard Marco as Public Relations Officer. Representing each grade level are Venice Elouiza Catap (Grade 7), Marie Cris Galupo (Grade 8, Maetha Ladica (Grade 9), Justine Magno (Grade 10), Girlie Aquino (Grade 11), and Dimple Pagalangan (Grade 12).
With this dynamic set of student leaders, YES-O is confident to continue its work of promoting environmental consciousness and youth-led sustainability efforts in the school and the wider community.

Earlier today, the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) officers of Alegria National High School proudly unveiled their โEco Advocatreeโ โ a symbolic tree showcasing each memberโs personal commitment and role in protecting the environment. Each leaf on the tree represents an individual aspiration, echoing the unique voices of student leaders as climate advocates and stewards of sustainability.
This creative headstart activity marks the official kickoff of Project E-COACH (Empowering Campus Organizations for Advocacy and Climate Action through Holistic Training), a school-led initiative designed to strengthen the leadership, awareness, and action-oriented spirit of YES-O officers.

In support of the nationwide call for increased youth involvement in environmental advocacy, Alegria National High School officially launched Project E-COACH โ Empowering Campus Organizations for Advocacy and Climate Action through Holistic Training โ on July 30, 2025.
Organized by the ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ง๐ฏ๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐ข๐ณ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (๐๐๐-๐), in partnership with the ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฏ๐จ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ง๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (๐๐๐๐๐) ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฅ, this two-day initiative aims to develop environmental leadership among 25 selected student leaders from Grades 7 to 12. The project is anchored in key environmental legislation, including Presidential Proclamation No. 237, Republic Act No. 9512, and DepEd Order No. 93, s. 2011, reinforcing the vital role of schools in climate education and sustainable development.
The first training session, to be held on July 31, will engage participants in interactive workshops on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate change, solid waste management, and brand auditing, using participatory and experiential learning strategies.
The concluding session, scheduled for August 8, 2025, will focus on advocacy planning, youth-led project development, and environmental leadership simulations, where students will present action plans addressing key environmental issues within the school and their local communities.

In addition to developing mini-environmental campaigns, the project encourages students to initiate programs such as eco-patrol systems, the establishment of school green spaces, strengthening the ban on single-use plastics in schools, sustainable clean-up activities, and information campaigns on sustainability, in partnership with local stakeholders.
The initiative also received strong support from the school administration. A total of Php 12,000 has been allotted to cover training materials, resource speakers, snacks, and certificates.
Through this project, Alegria NHS YES-O affirms that climate action begins in the classroom โ and is led by empowered student voices.

The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) of Alegria National High School officially held its first meeting for the Academic Year 2025โ2026, gathering 27 active members from Grades 7 to 12.

In celebration of Philippine Arbor Day 2025, Alegria National High School held a ceremonial tree-growing activity, featuring the planting of a Narra seedling in the schoolโs proposed green space. The initiative was spearheaded by the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) in collaboration with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) students.
The symbolic planting of the Narra tree marks the beginning of a series of placemaking activities that aim to involve students in reimagining and co-developing the schoolโs future green space.
According to Mr. Vik Melitante, the YES-O adviser, placemaking will serve as a platform for students to share their ideas on how they envision a sustainable and inclusive green spaceโone that will not only benefit them today but also future students, siblings, and friends.
Prior to the ceremonial planting, Mr. Melitante gave a brief talk on the significance of Philippine Arbor Day, its legal basis under Republic Act No. 10176, and the vital role of the youth in environmental protection. He emphasized that tree-growing is more than a ritualโit is a commitment to safeguarding life and ensuring a greener future.
