Honoring a Visionary: Celebrating Quezon Day Across the Philippines

Every year on August 19, the Philippines pauses to observe Quezon Day, honoring the birth anniversary of President Manuel Luis Quezon—the "Father of the National Language" and the first President of the Philippine Commonwealth.

Established into law under Republic Act No. 6741, this day is recognized as a special working holiday nationwide and a special non-working holiday in Quezon City and the provinces of Quezon and Aurora. Beyond being a date on the calendar, Quezon Day serves as a powerful reminder of leadership, civic duty, and the enduring vision for a unified Filipino nation.

Teachers of Alabat Central Elementary School actively participated in this annual celebration of Quezon Day at Municipal hall grounds. As communities honor his 148th birth anniversary, Quezon Day stands as a celebration of identity, resilience, and the relentless drive to build a better nation.

The Green Panthers of Alabat Central Elementary School officially roared into action today, July 25, 2026, during the grand opening of the Alabat Municipal Athletic Meet 2026 at the Alabat Island National High School (AINHS) Quadrangle.

Driven by this year's district theme, "One Team, One Dream, One Victory, ONE ALABAT," the Green Panthers stood out during the early morning parade at 6:45 AM.

Marching alongside neighboring delegations, the young elementary athletes demonstrated unity, discipline, and intense pride as they prepared to represent ACES across multiple sports disciplines.

ACES student-athletes proudly raised their school banner during the delegation ceremony, signifying their commitment to fair play, teamwork, and athletic excellence.

Demonstrating ACES' central role in the district meet, the school grounds are serving as the official battleground for both Lawn Tennis and Elementary Volleyball.

The 2-day athletic meet will continue tomorrow, July 26, 2026, with individual event finals and immediate awarding of medals and certificates.

With strong preparation and home court pride, the ACES Green Panthers are set to leave a lasting mark on this year's municipal games.

Honoring Sovereignty: ACES Marks a Decade of Historic Maritime Ruling in July Flag Ceremony

Alabat Central Elementary School (ACES) marked the first Monday of July with a powerful display of patriotism and civic awareness, dedicating its regular flag-raising ceremony to the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the historic 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award. (DepEd Memorandum)

Following the Holy Mass, the assembly transitioned for the traditional flag ceremony, led this month by the school’s Grade 5 teachers.

After the traditional singing of the Lupang Hinirang, recitation of the Panatang Makabayan, singing CALABARZON March, Quezon Hymn, and Alabat Isang Paraiso, the program shifted focus to an educational video presentation.

The multimedia showcase detailed the significance of the July 12, 2016 landmark ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, which overwhelmingly vindicated the Philippines' maritime entitlements in the West Philippine Sea.

The presentation was carefully tailored to help young learners grasp the importance of the ruling, translating complex international law into a narrative of national pride, unity, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

In her address to the school community, Mrs. Liza Rodillas, Principal II, underscored the vital role that educators and students play in upholding the country's legacy. She emphasized that national pride begins with awareness inside the classroom.

By engaging the student body in discussions about contemporary national issues, the school aims to mold a generation of Filipinos who are not only academically competent but also deeply invested in the future of their nation.
