Partnering for Wellness: Project CARE Philippines Brings Hope to ACES

In a dedicated effort to promote emotional well-being and break the stigma surrounding mental health in the school community, CARE Philippines conducted a symposium titled "Mental Health Awareness" on September 18, 2026 at Alabat Central Elementary School (ACES).

The highlighted session of the program was led by distinguished resource speaker Ms. Shaira Lois Dela Cruz, RN, Health Officer of I-HeLP Project CARE Philippines. Drawing from her background as a registered nurse and community health advocate, Ms. Dela Cruz delivered an engaging, empathetic, and age-appropriate presentation.

This event was participated by 100 learners from grade 4-6 (KS2).

By extending their reach to Alabat Central Elementary School, I-HeLP Project CARE Philippines has left a lasting legacy of hope, care, and proactive wellness.

ACES extends a special note of gratitude to CARE Philippines especially to Ms. Shaira Lois Dela Cruz, RN, Health Officer and Mr. Dexter Pudadera Glodoviza of I-HeLP Project CARE Philippines. With gentleness, expertise, and deep empathy, Ms. Dela Cruz captivated the audience, turning complex health topics into accessible, practical wisdom for young minds.

Duck, Cover, and Hold: Alabat Central ES Teachers and Students Practice Disaster Readiness

Faculty and staff at Alabat Central Elementary School actively participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on September 10, 2026, reinforcing disaster preparedness across both school premises and remote learning spaces.

​At exactly 2:00 PM, alarm sirens sounded across campus, prompting teachers and school administrative personnel to execute the standard "Duck, Cover, and Hold" protocol.

Guided by parents and guardians, pupils practiced ducking under home dining tables, identifying hazard zones within their residences.

​The 3rd Quarter NSED is part of the national government's ongoing quarterly initiatives led by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Department of Education (DepEd). These regular simulations aim to build a strong culture of disaster resilience and quick-response reflexes among educators, students, and local communities.
