The Senior High School Department of Alabat Island National High School (AINHS) successfully conducted its Annual Research Poster Expo 2026 on September 1, 2026, at the AINHS Gymnasium, showcasing 81 research posters featuring the research proposals of its Senior High School learners.
Anchored on the theme โResearch Excellence: Fostering Innovation and Lifelong Learning,โ the annual expo continues AINHSโs commitment to cultivating a strong culture of research, inquiry, and innovation among learners. The activity provides students with an avenue to present their research proposals, receive feedback, and develop their skills in communicating academic ideas.
The Research Poster Expo was proposed and initiated by Research Coordinator and SHS Coordinator Charlene Joy G. Oliveros, as part of the departmentโs continuing efforts to make research a meaningful, engaging, and authentic learning experience for Senior High School students, with the support of Principal IV Leilani A. Pregellana.
The activity was made possible through the valuable assistance of the research teachers and co-chairpersonsโMyla O. Marmeto, Jeffrey R. Tan, Jhoenami O. Mascariรฑa, and Cristine Joyce M. Ramosโwho contributed to the planning, coordination, and implementation of the expo.
The research proposals were presented by students from various SHS strands and sections. Diamond (STEM) presented 9 posters, while Ruby (STEM) presented 10. Quartz (AD) presented 6, Pearl (ICT) presented 7, and Garnet (ATS) presented 3.
Meanwhile, Emerald (ABM) presented 7 research proposals, Aquamarine (ACP/FP) presented 5, Jade (ATS/EPAS) presented 5, and Amethyst (HE) presented 4. Sapphire (HUMSS) presented 13 proposals, while Zircon (HUMSS) presented 12.
The research proposals were presented before a panel of AINHS faculty and staff members, who served as evaluators and provided constructive feedback, comments, and recommendations to help learners strengthen their proposed studies. Their participation gave students an opportunity to engage in academic discussions, respond to questions, and gain valuable insights that could guide them in refining their research proposals.
Unlike a presentation of completed research studies, the expo specifically focused on research proposals. Through their posters, learners communicated their identified research problems, objectives, proposed methodologies, and anticipated significance of their studies. This format allowed students to receive constructive feedback while their research ideas were still being developed.
The activity also served as a venue for learners to strengthen essential competencies in critical thinking, inquiry, academic writing, innovation, collaboration, and oral communication. Through the presentation and discussion of their proposed studies, students were encouraged to critically examine their ideas, respond to questions, and use feedback to improve their proposals as they prepare for the succeeding stages of their research.
As an annual undertaking, the Research Poster Expo has become an important part of the AINHS Senior High School Departmentโs research initiatives. It reflects the schoolโs continuing effort to empower learners to become inquisitive, innovative, critical, and lifelong learners.
With 81 research posters featuring proposed studies, this yearโs expo once again demonstrated the enthusiasm, creativity, and potential of AINHSโs young researchers as they take their first steps toward conducting meaningful studies that may contribute to their school and community.
