𝑼𝑴𝑨𝑨𝑵𝑰𝑵𝑶𝑵𝑮 𝑮𝑼𝑵𝑰𝑻𝑨

Mayroong mga alaalang hindi kailangang iparinig para mapanatiling buhay. May mga kuwentong nakaukit sa mga sugat na hindi madaling makita, mga bakas ng nakaraan na kahit tahimik ay patuloy na bumibigat sa paggunita. At may mga alaalang kumukupas ngunit hindi basta-bastang nawawala.

Idineklara ni dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr. ang Batas Militar noong 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐲𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐞 𝟐𝟏, 𝟏𝟗𝟕𝟐, kung saan naganap ang malawakang pag-aresto at paglabag sa karapatang pantao. Marami ang nakulong kabilang ang libo-libong kritiko ng pamahalaan, mga lider-estudyante, mga aktibista, at mga taumbayang nagpahayag ng pagtutol sa pamahalaan.

Dahil dito, ang kasaysayan ng Batas Militar ay tunay na dapat tandaan, na kahit matabunan man ng panahon, ang pag-alala ay mananatiling tahanan ng mga alaalang hindi kailanman dapat mawala.

Sa huli, ang pag-alala sa umaaninong gunita ay hindi lamang isang pagbabalik-tanaw sa mga masalimuot na pangyayaring dala ng nakaraan. Ito rin ay isang paraan upang maunawaan ang kasalukuyan, at mapangalagaan ang kinabukasan. Ang tanging hiling at panalangin natin ay nawa’y magsilbing aral ang mga pagkakamali, abuso't pasakit ng noon upang magsikap tayong bumuo ng isang mas maunlad, makatarungan, at mapayapang Pilipinas ngayon.

The August 29–30, 2026 Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination marked another important step for aspiring nurses as examinees faced the test with determination and courage.

The College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences achieved an overall passing rate of 87.57% with 91.95% among first takers and 18.18% for re-takers.

Congratulations to our new Registered Nurses of CCHAMS! Your hard work and dedication have paid off. Continue to carry the knowledge and values you learned as CCHAMS student nurses as you begin your nursing journey. CCHAMS Pataas, towards becoming globally competitive nurses!

𝘾𝘾𝙃𝘼𝙈𝙎 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙎𝙀𝘼𝙉 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙘 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩

Creativity took center stage as two students from the College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences (CCHAMS) of the DMMMSU South La Union Campus (DMMMSU-SLUC) brought home remarkable achievement from the 𝑨𝑺𝑬𝑨𝑵 𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒉𝒊𝒄 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 held as part of the 𝑨𝑺𝑬𝑨𝑵 𝑭𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒍 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

Making the college proud, Anthony Ruden S. Mangaoang, Jr. emerged as the 1st Place winner, while fellow CCHAMS student Sean D. Tampico secured 9th Place, earning a spot among the competition’s Top 10.

With the theme “Visualizing ASEAN: Navigating Our Future Together,” the competition challenged students to turn ASEAN-related information, data, and contemporary issues into infographics that were not only creative, but also clear, accurate, and meaningful.

Mangaoang and Tampico’s work stood alongside entries from different institutions, including other DMMMSU campuses, Batangas State University, and Van Lang University in Vietnam highlighting the excellence of DMMMSU-SLUC CCHAMS. Their achievements also emphasize the area of health sciences that often happens beyond the pages of textbooks. As future health professionals, effective communication through creativity matters just as much as knowing the information itself. From health education and community campaigns to health advocacy, visual communication can help turn complicated ideas into messages that people can understand and remember.

For CCHAMS, their wins are more than names on a list of awardees. They are a reminder that students in the health sciences can step beyond their usual roles and explore spaces where knowledge meets creativity.

Adding to this achievement, both are also proud members of the CCHAMS Pulse, where their cretaivity and passion for visual story telling continue to shine.

We may all be different—each with our own story, struggles, strengths, and uniqueness—but every piece matters, and every piece belongs.

Sometimes, all we need is someone to reach out, listen, and remind us that “𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙚.” You don’t have to carry everything on your own. It’s okay to share the weight, to speak up, and to open up about what you’re going through. Your feelings matter. Your story matters. You matter.

(2/2) 𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | Project S.H.I.N.E. Empowers San Marcos Families through Health and Wellness

Bringing health education beyond the classroom, the College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences (CCHAMS) Organization of Midwifery Students (OMS), led by its adviser , Prof. Richelda B. Estoesta, successfully implemented its Project S.H.I.N.E. (Supporting Hygiene, Immunity, Nutrition, and Empowerment through Community Health Education) on September 8, 2026, in San Marcos, Agoo, La Union.

With the theme “Nurturing Healthy Families and Communities through Hygiene, Proper Waste Management, and Nutrition,” Project S.H.I.N.E. is an outreach activity organized by CCHAMS OMS, with the help of BSM Level 2 students and CCHAMS Pulse, and with the guidance of their instructors, Prof. Marites B. Dagang, Prof. Julie L. Lagao, and Prof. Geraldine E. Resonable, and with the support of the Barangay officials and Barangay Health Workers of San Marcos. The activity aimed to enhance families’ knowledge, skills, and practices in maintaining a healthy and safe environment.

To energize the participants and set the mood, the BSM Level 2 students opened the program through a zumba dance presentation. Participants then engaged in interactive discussions on the topics covered, including proper handwashing, oral hygiene, nutrition, waste management, and responsible family planning. Demonstrations and return demonstrations were also conducted to allow participants to apply what they learned from the discussions.

More than just imparting knowledge, Project S.H.I.N.E. encourages the people in the community to remember what they learned and apply it in their daily lives. The activity emphasized that simple and sustainable practices, such as proper hygiene, healthy food choices, appropriate waste segregation, and responsible family planning, can help create healthier families and a safer community.

Through this outreach activity, CCHAMS students showed that change can start with a simple lesson or demonstration, and that the true measure of health education lies not only in what is taught, but in what people are empowered to do.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | On September 3, 2026, Thursday at the Jose D. Aspiras Hall, the Guidance Counseling Office of DMMMSU SLUC conducted a seminar for the sophomores of the College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences themed, "Nurture Mental Health, Drug Prevention, Breathe Vape-Free: Building a Healthier Community Together". The seminar aimed to promote mental wellness, responsible decision-making, drug prevention, and a vape-free lifestyle among students facing academic, social, and personal challenges. Focusing on the campus’ youth, the seminar targeted to increase awareness of mental health, educate students about the risks of drug use and va**ng, encourage healthy coping strategies, and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable seeking help. Students of CCHAMS took part on an interactive, insightful, and enriching discussions from esteemed speakers and lecturers. With the conclusion of the event, the Guidance Counseling Office looks forward to a more resilient, educated, and a holistically healthy school community.
