Agoo, La Union โ Agoo Kiddie Special School (AKSS) students clinched ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ in the ๐๐ฉ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ and ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐๐ฌ๐ญ during the Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 celebration on September 5, 2026 at the Jose D. Aspiras Civic Center, joining young leaders and students from different schools under the theme, โPanagkaykaysa ti Agtutubo, Bileg ti Masakbayan,โ or Youth Unity, Strength of the Future.
๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ญ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฒ, ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ง ๐
๐จ๐ซ๐, and ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ณ emerged as Spelling Bee champions, coached by Ms. Gail Rhea Rivera and Mr. Ryan Maglaya, while ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐๐ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง ๐๐ฉ๐รฑ๐๐ง๐จ was named champion in the Poster Making Contest under the theme โFrom Awareness to Action: Empowering Youth to Shape a Better Philippines,โ with Mr. John Carlo P. Albay as coach.
Meanwhile, Zean Eunice Peralta, Elijah Don Difuntorum, and Xyriel C. Valdez, coached by Miss Jhaeriena Sumaoang and Miss Remedios Milo, also represented AKSS in the Quiz Bee, showcasing their knowledge and skills alongside fellow young participants.
AKSS dancers, with the close supervision of Miss Hazel Ann B. Eslava, also represented the school in the dance competition, delivering a commendable and energetic performance that highlighted their teamwork, creativity, and dedication. Although they did not secure a winning spot, their participation demonstrated their confidence, determination, and pride in representing AKSS.
The celebration began with a Youth Symposium focused on the importance of mental health and psychosocial support among young people.
Mr. Amante Ofiana Jr., the eventโs resource speaker, discussed โStrong Minds, Strong Youth: Empowering Young Leaders through Mental Health and Psychosocial Support.โ
During the symposium, Ofiana emphasized that academic performance does not always reflect a studentโs personal struggles.
He reminded the youth, โNot every student who is struggling is failing academically,โ highlighting the importance of recognizing the emotional and mental challenges that students may face beyond the classroom.
The discussion encouraged young participants to develop stronger minds, support one another, and become more compassionate leaders in their schools and communities. It also reinforced the importance of seeking support and acknowledging personal struggles as part of building resilient and empowered youth.
Following the symposium, participants proceeded to different venues for the dayโs competitions.
The event also featured a message from Municipal Mayor Hon. Frank O. Sibuma, who encouraged the youth to recognize their potential and prove their worth.
He also shared the Ilocano reminder, โPorket Naabak tayon haan tayo nga nalaingen,โ emphasizing the importance of remaining humble and continuing to improve even after achieving success.
Through its participation in Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, AKSS highlighted not only the talents and capabilities of its students but also the importance of mental well-being, unity, leadership, and active youth participation in shaping a stronger future for the community. # # #
