We join the Province of Quirino and the whole Cagayan Valley in mourning the passing of Gov. Dakila Carlo "Dax" E. Cua.

A dedicated public servant who served as Vice Governor, Congressman, and Governor of Quirino, his legacy of leadership, livelihood and genuine service to the people will never be forgotten.

Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, our Gov. Dax.

Honoring a Legacy of Leadership in Education and Public Service

With profound sorrow, the Department of Education – Schools Division Office of Quirino joins the Province of Quirino in mourning the passing of Hon. Dakila Carlo E. Cua, Governor of the Province of Quirino.

For the education sector, his passing is deeply felt—not only as the loss of a public servant, but of a leader whose work and support helped shape opportunities for our learners, teachers, and schools.

His leadership reminded us that education is a shared responsibility. Through meaningful collaboration with DepEd and other education stakeholders, his administration contributed to an environment where schools could continue to pursue better learning opportunities and where the welfare and development of learners remained an important part of public service. The province currently has 186 schools, reflecting the breadth of the education community he served alongside.

Beyond programs, projects, and accomplishments, what remains is the impact of leadership that reaches people—the learner given an opportunity, the teacher empowered to serve, the school strengthened to provide a better learning environment, and the community inspired to believe in the power of education.

Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua leaves behind a legacy that will continue to live in the stories of the people he served and in the aspirations of the young generation of Quirino.

As we grieve his passing, we remember his service with honor, gratitude, and deep respect.

Maraming salamat, Gov. Dakila, for your service to Quirino and for standing with our education community. May your legacy of public service continue to inspire us to serve with the same dedication and love for our people.

NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS SCHOOL SAFETY DRILL 2026

Preparedness. Awareness. Protection.

Today, San Benigno Elementary School joined the National Simultaneous School Safety Drill, a nationwide initiative of the Department of Education aimed at strengthening the preparedness and response capacity of schools to active threats and other emergencies.

As part of the activity, our learners, teachers, and school personnel practiced appropriate protective actions, including RUN, HIDE, classroom lockdown, concealment, orderly evacuation, and proper response upon encountering responders.

The drill served as an important reminder that when faced with an unexpected threat, knowing what to do, staying calm, and following established safety procedures can make a difference.

Importantly, the activity was conducted with the safety, dignity, and psychosocial well-being of our learners and personnel as the primary consideration, in keeping with DepEd’s “Do No Harm” principle.

We prepare not because we expect the worst, but because we value every life entrusted to our care.

Stay alert. Stay calm. Stay safe.
Together, let us build a safer, more prepared, and resilient school community.
