The Bataan Peninsula State University – Research and Development Office proudly extends its warmest congratulations to all the winners of the 21st BPSU Research and Development Agency In-House Review of Agriculture and Fisheries Studies, held on August 20, 2026, via Google Meet.

The one-day event featured the presentation and evaluation of seven (7) completed research projects from faculty researchers of the Orani and Abucay Campuses. The research presentations were evaluated by distinguished experts from Central Luzon State University:

Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) strengthened its research partnership with the Department of Agriculture–Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) through the ceremonial signing of a Research Funding Agreement for the project, Sustainable Production in Water-Scarce Areas through Enhanced Dry Direct Seeded Rice System (eDDSRS), on September 7, 2026, in Diliman, Quezon City. BPSU Vice President for Administration and Finance Niel David, representing BPSU President Ruby B. Santos-Matibag, joined DA-BAR Director Cecilia N. Gascon in leading the signing.

The signing was witnessed by DA-BAR Program Development Division Head Raymond Patrick L. Cabrera and members of the bureau’s Rice R4D team, alongside BPSU Project Leader Dr. Jonathan E. Lacayanga and Project Assistant Carl Joshua R. Isidro. Funded through the DA National Rice Program, the project aims to advance climate-smart and resource-efficient rice production in rainfed and water-scarce farming communities through improved dry direct seeding technologies, water and nutrient management, quality seed production, and geospatial mapping for suitable production areas.

A gentle reminder regarding the deadlines for the submission of research proposals for the 2027 funding cycle.

We highly encourage the conduct of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research initiatives. Proposals must be submitted to your respective RDO Chairperson. For Main Campus, submissions shall be made to the Office of the Director for Research and Development.

While solo research proposals have been practiced in previous years, faculty members are encouraged to collaborate and include other faculty members as part of their research teams for the next fiscal year and in the succeeding years, provided that there are no overlapping responsibilities.

This initiative aims to ensure the equitable distribution of limited research funds and the attainment of the target of 60 research projects distributed across all campuses.

Another sucessful session of Kwentuhan at Kapihan on July 27, 2026, at the University Research Extension and Development Innovation Center (UREDIC), BPSU Abucay Campus.

The activity featured Dr. Eduardo S. Tinao, Guest Faculty Researcher, who shared valuable insights, experiences, and practical perspectives on research. Participants exchanged ideas, reflected on research practices, and explored ways to strengthen the University's culture of research and innovation.

Kwentuhan at Kapihan continues to serve as a collaborative platform where researchers, faculty members, and academic professionals connect, learn from one another, and inspire research that creates meaningful impact for the community.

BPSU has successfully secured 111 permanent items under the Revised Organization and Staffing Standards (ROSS) Phase II for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), marking a significant milestone in strengthening its institutional capacity for research, extension, and auxiliary services.

The Revised Organization and Staffing Standards, implemented by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), is a staffing framework that determines and allocates appropriate positions in government agencies, including SUCs. As a continuation of ROSS Phase I, under which BPSU was granted 176 plantilla items, the approval of an additional 111 permanent positions under the succeeding phase is expected to further strengthen the University’s operational structure and enhance its capacity to deliver research, extension, and production-related programs in a more focused, efficient, and sustainable manner, while further advancing its role in innovation and community engagement.

The successful proposal and facilitation of the ROSS Phase II items were spearheaded by the university’s Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO), in close collaboration with the Research and Extension Office and the Production and Business Enterprise (PBEN) Office. Their coordinated efforts were instrumental in aligning institutional priorities with national standards and securing the approval of additional permanent positions.
