We are happy to share the successful conduct of our Capacity Building of Processors on Banana Energy Bar Processing under the WPU Banana Tech Comm Project and WPU CAFES Extension Program FRIENDS, in partnership with the Aborlan Rainbow Marketing Cooperative (ARMC).
The activity gave our ARMC participants the opportunity to learn and practice the actual preparation and processing of banana energy bars, including proper handling, food safety, quality control, packaging, and storage.
For us, this activity is more than just another training. It is the beginning of our goal to help ARMC develop banana energy bars into an actual enterprise product. Since the cooperative is already involved in banana processing, particularly banana chips, the energy bar provides another opportunity to make better use of locally available bananas, diversify their products, and hopefully create an additional source of income for their members.
There is still a lot of work ahead: product standardization, improvement of packaging, costing, market testing, and eventually commercialization, but we are glad to have taken this first important step together.
We look forward to the day when these banana energy bars will not only be products made during training, but products that ARMC can proudly produce, market, and call their own.
Thank you to our ARMC participants and the WPU Banana Tech Comm Project team for making this activity meaningful and productive. 🍌
One training at a time, one product at a time, towards a sustainable banana enterprise in Aborlan.
