🌏 Expanding Financial Literacy Across Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬

We’re proud to announce a new nationwide collaboration between Saver.Global and Digicel PNG Foundation to expand access to digital and financial literacy education across Papua New Guinea.

Together, we’re working to create greater opportunities for people — particularly young people, students and rural communities — to build the knowledge, confidence and practical skills they need to participate safely and effectively in the digital economy.

📱 Through SaverLearning’s mobile-first learning platform, participants will have access to engaging short courses, interactive games and practical tools covering topics including:

💰 Budgeting & saving
🏦 Banking
📚 Financial literacy

The initiative will initially focus on students in BeLit schools, alongside school and community-based awareness programs for people aged 14 and above, including students participating through Flexible Open and Distance Education.

This is about more than financial education. It’s about building genuine financial confidence and creating pathways to greater financial inclusion.

We’re excited to work alongside Digicel PNG Foundation to support the next generation and help build stronger, more financially resilient communities across Papua New Guinea. 🇵🇬

Our very first Financial Literacy session for Digicel Foundation PNG took place at Jubilee Catholic Secondary School in Port Moresby last week 🇵🇬
We launched two new courses - Smart Kina and Beyond Kina 💵

Smart Kina teaches users how to create a budget and set up savings goals for the future.
This course lays the foundations to manage basic finances.

Beyond Kina introduces users to digital payment methods.
Through engaging and straight forward lessons, learners will discover the benefits of using digital wallets over cash, making financial management more convenient and secure.

Teaching financial literacy in Secondary Schools is important because it equips young adults with practical life skills to manage money, avoid costly debt and learn how to stay safe online.

We were invited to attend the 2026 AFI Global Policy Forum which was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea this year and co-hosted with Bank of Papua New Guinea.

The opening ceremony brought together over 750 policymakers, regulators, and partners from 80 countries.
The theme for this year’s event was ‘Resilient Economies, Inclusive Future’

This is our second year attending the event and we look forward to working together with other organisations, leaders and countries working towards the same vision and goals for financial inclusion for the future.

Saver.Global and Digicel PNG Foundation are coming together to bring essential financial and digital literacy to hundreds of thousands of Papua New Guineans. Through this collaboration, two new courses — Smart Budgeting and Basic Banking, available in both English and Tok Pisin — will launch on the SaverLearning platform, giving learners the knowledge and confidence to navigate the digital financial world. Thanks to zero-rated (free) mobile access via Digicel PNG, these courses will reach young people and underserved rural communities across the country.

This partnership marks a meaningful step toward lasting financial empowerment for Papua New Guineans. By combining mobile-first, gamified learning with community awareness programmes, and grounded in a shared monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning framework, the collaboration is designed to build a stronger, more inclusive financial future for PNG. 🌏

📢 We are excited to announce our exciting new partnership with Ria Money Transfer which will initially focus on Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) workers in Australia, and Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) workers in New Zealand, with plans to add further migrant cohorts and remittance corridors over time.🇦🇺 🇳🇿

We are proud to be leading a national digital financial literacy assessment with the Central Bank of Samoa Numismatic

This cross-sector effort brings together financial services, telecommunications, government, civil society, and private sector leaders to build stronger, safer digital financial capability.

Insights learned will power new digital financial literacy courses on SaverLearning with a sharp focus on everyday banking and cybersecurity, practical skills that matter now.

Launching in June, these courses are designed to support Samoan communities to confidently navigate the digital financial world and unlock new opportunities.
