Voting in PNG

What we see in the rural areas says more about leadership than any political oration ever could.
If you go to the rural areas, look at the state of the roads, look at the state of the health facility, look at the state of the schools, look at the water supply, look at the state of the markets, look at the bridges, you know, leadership is not what people shout about during the election. Leadership is not what people dish out during the elections. Leadership is what remains after the elections.

So for far too long, our people in the rural areas have voted on instant gratification, small money, food, fuel, beer, favour, etc. Those things will not take your children out of poverty. Those things will not create an opportunity. Those things will not empower you. Those things will not strengthen your family.

That is why voter education is important.
Our people need to understand that when they vote, they are not voting for today. They are voting for the next five years. They are voting for whether or not there will be a road in their district. They are voting for whether or not there will be water in their district. They are voting for whether or not there will be electricity in their district. They are voting for whether or not their health facility will function. They are voting for whether or not their kids will be taught by qualified teachers. They are voting for whether or not farmers will be supported. They are voting for whether or not SMEs will flourish, or whether there will just be more rot and decadence.

we need to teach our people in the rural areas to vote for leaders who have the understanding, who have the vision and who have the capacity to develop our people intellectually, through policies, through systems, through education, and physically, through infrastructure, through services, etc.

Because at the end of the day, development is not an accident. Development is a consequence of good leadership and responsible voting.

Invitation to the World Debate Conference, New York, USA

I am truly honored and humbled to announce my formal invitation from the ICJ YOUTH Summit Organization (USA), under the auspices of the United Nations Youth International Court of Justice (UN YOUTH ICJ), to participate in the upcoming World Debate Conference in New York City, United States.

This esteemed international forum will bring together delegates and young leaders from Universities and Countries around the world to engage in high level debates and discussions on critical global issues, with a particular emphasis on peace treaty agreements and the rule of law. The conference aims to foster constructive dialogue, diplomatic collaboration, and enhance international understanding among youth representatives.

Such a prestigious event is not only a personal achievement but also a testament to my commitment to the ideals of peace, justice, and multilateral cooperation as promoted by the United Nations. I am dedicated to contributing meaningfully to the discussions and representing my community with integrity, professionalism, and a spirit of diplomacy.

This invitation underscores the importance of empowering young voices in global governance and creating an atmosphere where dialogue and cooperation can triumph over division and conflict. I am looking forward to engaging with fellow delegates, diplomats, and experts in shaping progressive perspectives that uphold the principles of international law and sustainable peace.

MAY GOD GRANT HIS GOODNESS UPON THIS GENERATION πŸ™

(PNG) is grappling with distinct challenges in governance, geography, and socio-economic conditions as it nears a significant moment in its journey toward independence or ongoing self-determination. Establishing and maintaining law and order is crucial for stability, investor confidence, and the well-being of its citizens.

Strengthening Institutions and the Rule of Law

Independent, Credible Judiciary

Judicial Independence: Protect prosecutors, judges, and court staff from political influence.
Case Management Reform: Introduce digital case tracking to minimize delays and backlogs.

Access to Justice: Broaden legal aid services and community legal education to ensure that all citizens can exercise their rights.

Police Reforms and Community Policing

: Enhance recruitment, training, compensation, and welfare for police personnel.
Community Policing: Set up neighborhood policing units that collaborate with local leaders to prevent crime and resolve disputes.

Accountability: Fortify internal affairs units, civilian oversight mechanisms, and improve responses to misconduct.

Economic Opportunities

Job Creation: Focus investments on infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, and small-to-medium enterprise development to address the economic factors contributing to crime.

Youth Engagement: Allocate resources for youth centers, skills training programs, and after-school activities to deter young people from criminal involvement.

Assessment Phase: Carry out a national audit of crime and the justice system to pinpoint gaps, set priorities, and allocate resources effectively.

Legislative Reforms: Revise laws to meet current challenges (such as anti-gender-based violence legislation, cybercrime regulations, border control measures, and sentencing guidelines) while safeguarding rights protection.
