𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗟𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗸𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘄𝗮 𝗪𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲

It is with deep sadness and shock that I announce the heartbreaking news of the unfortunate and tragic sudden passing of our Governor for Morobe Hon. Luther Akisawa Wenge.

Our Songan, our vocal leader, Governor Wenge, passed away this morning at the Port Moresby General Hospital after an illness.

His sudden passing is a tragic loss and shock for the people of Morobe province and for Papua New Guinea on the eve of our country’s 50th Independence celebrations.

Governor Wenge was more than a colleague. He was a strong leader, a seasoned lawyer, and a man of principle who dedicated his life to serving the people of Morobe.

His leadership, both as a three-term Governor from 1997 to 2012 and in his current tenure since 2022, was marked by an unwavering commitment to justice, development, and the wellbeing of our province.

His voice was always bold and uncompromising when it came to protecting the rights of our people.

He was a true Morobean son who stood tall in the political and legal arenas, and his contribution to our province and nation will never be forgotten.

My sincere condolences go to the Wenge family, his relatives, the people of Samangzing village, the people of Nawae, and the people of Morobe Province during this time of grief.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

As Morobeans, we mourn the loss of a great leader and a tireless advocate for our people. His passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill.

My kandre and Governor, may your soul rest in eternal peace.

As we prepare for the Don Bosco Foundation Week next month, let's remind ourselves that it is more than just an annual celebration-it is a call of unity, gratitude and the Bosco spirit that lives in all of us.

The sports fest has already begun, and soon we'll witness the various events that are scheduled to take place(talent show/academic competition/ trade skills competition/ eucharistic celebrations etc..). These events bring us together as one Bosconian Family.

The Morobe Provincial Government through the Gerson Solulu Scholarship, has already been a strong pillar of support, providing 50% of our tuition fees each year. This new initiative is an amazing opportunity that promises open doors, to expand skills and pave the way for a brighter future. We are excited about the prospects this may bring and truly grateful. With this gesture, the future is looking even brighter for the next generation of graduates in/from Morobe.

This initiative will not only help secure jobs within the country but also open doors abroad, ensuring that Morobean intellectuals stand alongside the best on the global stage.
