The Final Battle: Worship of the Creator vs. the Worship of the Creature

At the end of time, the great controversy between good and evil will reach its climactic conclusion, not through armies or weapons, but through the choices of worship that every individual must make.
History has shown us that when religious powers unite with the state, they can enforce laws that require allegiance to a particular belief, punishing those who resist. In Europe, this union led to the persecution of millions of Christians, with estimates of over 50-100 million martyrs.

This tragic history, as foretold in Daniel 7:25, will be repeated in the last days. The core of this struggle will focus on the choice between worshiping the Creator God or bowing to the creature.
This battle is not just a disagreement over religious practices. It is the ultimate confrontation between truth and error, divine law versus human tradition, and the true day of worship ordained by God versus a counterfeit day imposed by human authority.
At the heart of this cosmic conflict are the Ten Commandments, God's moral law for humanity. Among these commandments, the Fourth Commandment, which sanctifies the Seventh-day Sabbath (Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11), becomes a key point of contention. In Revelation 12:17, the dragon—representing Satan—wages war against those who “keep the commandments of God,” especially those who honor God’s law by observing the Sabbath.

This battle is not merely over religious observance, but about loyalty to the Creator versus submission to earthly powers.

The structure of the book of Revelation draws our attention to chapter 12, verse 10, where the victory of Jesus on the cross stands as the central event of the conflict. Jesus’ victory over Satan at the cross may have sealed the enemy’s defeat, but the battle continues, especially in the hearts of those who must choose whom they will serve: the Creator or the creature.

In Revelation 11:19, the introduction of the Ark of the Covenant, which houses the Ten Commandments, reinforces the eternal authority of God’s law. The Ark is not a mere artifact of history; it represents the moral standard that remains unshaken, even in the face of human tradition and secular pressure.

Revelation 13 reveals the rise of a false worship system that forces people to choose between honoring the Creator or the creature—between God’s truth and man-made deception.

However, hope remains for the faithful. Revelation 14:12 speaks of the perseverance of the saints, those who “keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” These believers, though facing overwhelming pressure and persecution, will stand firm in their commitment to God’s law. Their strength will come from their unwavering loyalty to the Creator, despite the world’s demands to conform.
In Revelation 22:14, God promises that those who keep His commandments will enter His eternal kingdom and receive the reward of their faithfulness. This promise represents the final resolution of the great controversy—those who choose to worship God in truth and obedience will inherit eternal life in His presence.

The great controversy, therefore, is ultimately about worship: Will we honor the Creator or the creature? Will we uphold divine law or follow human tradition? Will we honor God's sacred Sabbath or accept a counterfeit day of worship? Revelation offers a clear and urgent call to the faithful: stand firm in the commandments of God, remain loyal to the faith of Jesus, and trust in His victory. Those who do will emerge victorious in the final battle and inherit eternal life in God's kingdom.

This is not simply a theological debate—it is a cosmic war for the hearts and souls of every person. The choice is clear, and the outcome is eternal. Will you choose to stand with the Creator, or will you bow to the forces of the creature? The time to decide is now.

Blessings 🙌

THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST SERIES 2

TOPIC: BACKGROUND TO THE BOOK OF REVELATION.

The Book of Revelation is the last book of the Bible. Genesis laid a solid foundation for the beginning of the earth and Revelation not only summarise and allude to both the Old Testament including Daniel, Exekiel, Isaiah as a source and New Testament but also laid a firm foundation for the great consumption and climatic event that will wind up the great controversy between good and evil.

The title of the book "Revelation " is derived from Greek " apocalypsis" , meaning "unveiling" or "revelation". It is the only apocalyptic book in the New Testament. It is therefore an important book for Christian eschatology or understanding of last day events.

Revelation contains three literature genre which are (a) Epistolary- Letters to the 7 churches (b) Apocalyptic and (c) Prophecy. The book begins with the letters to the 7 churches, followed by prophetic vision and culminate in the second coming of Jesus Christ.

SETTING

John wrote the book of Revelation while in prison on the island of Patmos in the Agean Sea. About 40 miles South West of Ephesus. Patmos serve as a Roman prison camp to punish popular people who are seen to be a threat to Roman Empire, the ruling power of the day.

Toward the end of first century AD, Emperor Domitian who ruled from AD 81-96 require worship of emperors and persecution ensued. The book of Revelation was written between Ad 90 - AD 100.

Christians underwent persecution from race, religion, associated with membership of particular sect and persecution of distinct identity.

John, the last of the original 12 Apostle was a threat to the Emperor. He was not able to be burned in a boiling oil and was therefore banished to the Island of Patmos. John, introduced himself as " brother and companion in the tribulation" John 1:9.

Revelation was written as a form of letter to the seven churches in Asia Minor, now part of Western Turkey. The seven churches namely Ephesus. Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira. Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.

The experience of the Christian then was used as a springboard to reveal future endtime events.

AUTHOR

John the Apostle is identified as the author of the book of Revelation. Revelation 1:1,4,9 and 22:8. John wrote 5 books of the Bible. They are Gospel John, First, Second and Third Epistle of John and the Book of Revelation.

John was the youngest of the 12 original Apostles. John was one of the inner circle including Peter and James. John was one of the disciples whom Jesus love. John 13:23.

John was intolerant and short tempered. After the crucifixion , John was completely changed to become the Apostle of Love and changed from "sons of thunder" to " John the Beloved". John was the last of the Apostle to die a natural death unlike the rest of his companions who died through persecution.

PURPOSE OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION

(A) One of the primary purpose of the Book of Revelation is to reveal Jesus Christ as the Hero, the God who is in control and the coming King of Kings and Lord or Lords.

(B) Encourage the Seven churches that just as Jesus suffered and became victorious, they too can endure persecution from their ebemies and become victorious.

(C) Help Christians to build trust in Gods sovereignty and enable them to face the future with hope and confidence.

(D) Revelation use the immediate experience as a spring board to reveal future events from the time of John till the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Finally, the introductory words to the book " "The Revelation of Jesus Christ ", 1:1, should become a book of great interest to Christians as it expose Jesus as never before and in a marvellous way. Thus knowing Jesus is Life Eternal.

In the next lecture, we shall discuss one of the themes of Revelation - God is in Control.

Until then, God Bless

THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST SERIES 1

TOPIC: DIFFERENT SCHOOL OF THOUGHTS.

In lecture 1, we will discuss the four different schools of interpretation of Revelation or hermeneutical approaches. They are (1) Preterist (2) Historicist (3) Idealist and (4) Futurist.

1. PRETERIST - According to this view, Revelation does not foretell future or endtime events. Revelation only describe events that occur in John's time during the first century AD.

2. HISTORICIST - Revelation corresponds to actual historical events and developments in the history of the first century Christian Church era to the end time and into eternity.

3. IDEALIST - According to this view, Revelation does not portray actual events. The events and visions are symbolic, depecting the battle of good and evil going on in heaven.

4. FUTURIST - This view interpret Revelation as a prophecy of future events that will occur both in heaven and on earth.

KEY TEXT : REVELATION 1: 19 , is key to enable us to subscribe to correct view of Revelation.
" Write the things which YOU HAVE SEEN,
and the THINGS WHICH ARE, and the things which WILL TAKE PLACE AFTER THIS".

Take note of the outline:
1. "Things which you have seen..." - Refers to Jesus interactions with John.

2. "Things which are..." - Refers to present conditions of the seven churches at the time.

3. " Things which will take place after this..."- This refers to climatic endtime prophetic events of the future and eternity, after the seven churches from Revelation chapter 4 to chapter 22.

Thus Revelation 1:19 agrees with Historicist hermeneutical principles of interpreting Revelation.

It is also important to note that Revelation 1:19 provides an overview structure in three format to the content of Revelation to guide our understanding.

(1) THINGS "YOU HAVE SEEN" (1:1-20)
A. Introduction - (1:1-8)
B. Vision of Christ - (1:9-18)
C. Jesus commission John to write - (1:19-20)

(2) THE THINGS "WHICH ARE" (2:1-3:22)
Letters to the seventh churches from Ephesus to Laodicea, diagnosing the spiritual conditions of the churches.

(3) "THINGS WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE AFTER THIS". (4:1-22:21)
A. Worship in heavily throne - (4:1-11: 14)
B. Time of trouble - (6:1-18:24)
C. Second coming of Jesus Christ - (19:1-21)
D. One Thousand Years Reign - (20:1-10)
E. Judgement - (20:11-15)
F. Eternity - (21:1-22:21)

The above overview will be discussed in detail. Take time to read through the book of Revelation.

In the next series, we will discuss the background to the book of Revelation by covering the authorship, date, historical setting, primary audience, type of book and the purpose of the book.

Until then, God Bless.
