PNG COUNSELLORS ASSOCIATION CONTINUES TO FULFILL ITS VISION AND THE 10 YEAR PLAN
Papua New Guinea Counsellor’s Association (PNGCA) is committed to fulfilling its vision and mission to enhance, encourage and recognize development of counselling profession in and to support and regulate accreditation of counsellors, counselling trainings and counselling services throughout PNG. PNGCA has recently concluded two trainings for the month of May for counsellors and other services providers in the space of counselling. PNGCA has recently completed Block 2 of the Certificate IV In Counselling Training with IEA TAFE from May 9th to 13th. A total of 26 participants with counselling backgrounds are currently attending this training. The trainee counsellors have yet to undergo Block 3 and Block 4 in order to become certified counsellors. The Cert IV Counselling Training is recognized as national standard qualification to accredit counsellors and the counselling profession in the country. PNGCA also conducted a five-Day workshop on Community Based Helper Training with 25 participants from NCD and Central in attendance. The training was for Child Fund PNG. The training took place at Emmaus Training Center, at Don Bosco Technological Institute, East Boroko from May 2nd to 6th, 2022. There were two sessions which included GBV Sensitization Trainings held during the evenings. PNGCA gas established Dawn Counselling Training Services and registered with PNG IPA and announced that the interim chairperson is Lua Alu. The PNGCA is also offering 10-Day Basic Counselling Training.

Papua New Guinea Counsellors' Association (PNGCA) Childfund PNG and IEA College of TAFE signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the 25th August 2021 at IEA College for delivery of Certificate 4 in Counselling at IEA College. The training will being in August 2021 and will run for 6 months.
Counsellors over twenty six are selected from PNGCA and Childfund PNG will participate in this program. Thanks for the partners in supporting and selection of participants and proving funds and also to IEA College of TAFE for their support to provide the their facility and hosting of the training.

Papua New Guinea Counsellors' Association has successfully conducted a Community Based Helper Training with Church Based Organization at Anglicare Training Center, Waigani from the 13 - 16th July 2021. The training is been funded by UN Women under the spotlight initiative and thanks to FSVAC for their support in hosting the event.
