The Bougainville Students Association was pleased to have attended a guest lecture hosted by the third-year Political Science Students under their course, Politics of Security.

The lecture was held on the 29th of July 2026, at the main lecture theater, featuring Oliver Nobetau of the Lowy Institute, Sydney, Australia.

The session was focused on Political Security Issues with Mr Nobetau presenting his research and insights on Bougainville’s Future. The session was opened to interested students, resulting in an excellent turnout and engaging discussions.

His discussion encouraged participants to think critically about the difficult questions surrounding Bougainville’s and the factors that will influence its success.

We extend our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to the incredible sponsors who made the 2026 AROB Night at the Cosmopolitan possible.

To Stanis Huuma, and River Bend Investment Limited, thank you for your unwavering support and belief in our vision. To the Port Moresby Bougainville Association, your commitment to our community and culture gave this event its heart and foundation. And to our Regional Member, Hon Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, thank you for your leadership, encouragement, and for standing with us as we worked toward a meaningful cause.

We are equally overwhelmed with appreciation for our phenomenal performing artists who poured their energy, talent, and passion onto the stage: Silaha Kakaku, Wilson Pulu, Phijay, and our special international guest David Bogese aka Young Davie. Your live performances didn’t just entertain, they moved people, united the crowd, and directly helped us raise vital funds for our annual end-of-year project. Your support means we can now confidently move forward with two crucial components which includes Primary School Book Drive and High School Awareness regarding courses offered in UPNG as well as GPA requirements for said courses.

Finally, to every single person who purchased a ticket and showed up for AROB Night: thank you. Your presence, your support, and your generosity turned an idea into reality. Because of you, our sponsors, and our artists, we are one step closer to making a real difference.

Happy Bougainville Foundation Day to all proud and patriotic Bougainvilleans.

Today marks 21 years since the establishment of the Autonomous Bougainville Government—an achievement born from the courage, sacrifice and determination of our people.

As we reflect on our journey, we honour those who paved the way and celebrate the progress we have made together. More importantly, we look ahead with hope, confidence and unwavering resolve as we continue our journey towards the future that we have chosen.

PUBLIC NOTICE – AROB NIGHT 2026

The UPNG Bougainville Students Association confirms that Arob Night 2026 at The Cosmopolitan on 13 June 2026 was peaceful and successful.

All our students returned safely to campus.

Regarding videos of a car park incident circulating online. The fight happened while Bougainvilleans were still in line to enter The Cosmopolitan. UPNG Bougainville students and members of the Arob community were NOT involved. The incident was between other parties and security.

Our students remain safe and conducted themselves well. Thank you to all families, sponsors, and supporters.
