The Western Highlands Provincial Government has allocated K1.2m for leave fares alone and the Leave Fares Committees paid the Teachers last December 2022. The PEB CHAIRMAN, Mr Esley Tikil told Post Courier last week. He said, Leave Fares were paid directly to Teachers Nominated Bank Accounts in the first week of December 2022. This was first of it's kind for the Provice for the last 10 years.

The Tentative postings for 2023 will soon be out,the Chairman added.
For those of you transferring from other Provinces to teach in Western Highlands, you can write to the Chairman and Cc to the Executive Manager, Executive Officer,Staff Management Co Ordinator (SMC) and the Superintendents.
Likewise, for New Graduates.

For our convenience, we have some great people in the PEB Committees. Some are highly educated and have great wealth of experiences. The PEB Chairman Mr Esley Tikil was a former Primary School teacher, a headteacher and was promoted to Standard Officer. He has a bachelor degree and recently got his Masters at the University of Goroka. He was later promoted as Senior Standard Officer for WHP schools. And recently he was given the position of Executive Manager for schools in Hagen Central under the Mt Hagen City Authority..
Like wise , we have Mr Benny Tep who is now the Executive Manager for Teachers Service Commission (TSC) representing Highlands Region. He was a Primary School Teacher, did his bachelor degree at the University of Goroka (UOG) and furthering his studies in Australia with the University of Griffith Qld,Australia and has Masters too. There are other PEB members who also Teachers and have vast experiences and expertise in the field and represent and occupy big positions in the Province as well as at the National Level. One of these people is the Deputy PEB Chairman Mr Leo Meninga, former Education Planner, Assistant Secretary for WHP schools, Provincial Planner and Provincial Administrator. He was one time appointed by the NEC to the position of Provincial Affairs Secretary for the Country. He is currently in the Board for PNG Power as the Deputy Chairman. However, he resigned from Public Service recently.
Those are few similar people like these are Members of PEB. I has one strongly believe that, the Teachers will be treated equally and fairly in the future.

Iam not saying that, everything will be fine or run smoothly. We MUST UNDERSTAND that there are almost 5000(est) Teachers teaching in the Province and they are Human like us and can make Decisions which we cannot agree or compromise. But they will entertain our queries when presented..

Teachers Rights and Entitlements are denied by the PEB. Those PEB are appointed by the Governor. If you are a victim and affected by their decisions, we need to change the Governor..
