Rural Png will miss out on the opportunity to educated their early learners. I hope png government will look into this issue ASAP.

Tips for me...

No matter how intelligent you are, your attitude matter.

What is the real problem with our education system in which we have so many school leaver on the street, some make it through the universities and colleges but with low comprehension skills.

Some times I think its the way we understand the education in PNG context. Most of us thought that being educated is able to read and write or at least complete a level of education.

But we should understand the difference between literacy and education. Literacy is able to read and write and education refers to the process of acquiring knowledge, skills, values, morals, habits and beliefs. A person can be illiterate but still be learned or educated. Education is a combination of experiences and practices which does not necessarily include literacy. Therefore literacy is not a sole form of education but its a tool in that direction.

The greatest issue in our country Papua New Guinea is that it denotes literacy on par with education. The system is striving to make country full of literate population but not educated.
I guess, the people in the field of education have a lot of responsibility to work on the reform for another 50 years. Our education system is very way back in terms of educating individual human beings.
