💐 A Father’s Day Tribute to the Late Professor Peter Anderson
Today, Sunday, 6 September 2026 — Father’s Day, my family and I visited the resting place of our beloved Professor Peter Anderson.
Professor Anderson was more than a lecturer and mentor to us. He was a father figure to his students, always wanting the very best for each one of us and encouraging us to become better people and professionals.
One of his memorable sayings was:
“Bury me at Nabaza Cemetery so that when I die, I can watch over my students.”
Although he was ultimately laid to rest at Nudgee Cemetery, one thing remains certain — wherever his students may be, they will continue to remember him, honour him and visit him.
Today, I came with my family and placed flowers on his grave. Some time ago, another of his students, Gloria, also visited and placed the beautiful white flowers that remain there.
Professor Anderson, you are forever in our hearts. You made an extraordinary difference in the lives of your students. Through your teaching, mentorship and dedication, you contributed immensely to developing the human resources of our beautiful country.
The lives and careers of the many students you taught are part of the legacy you left behind.
Your students have not forgotten you, Professor. We will continue to bring flowers, remember your contribution and appreciate all that you did for us.
Your legacy lives on through your students. 🌹💐
Rest peacefully, Prof. Anderson. You will always be remembered.

Note: For those who may notice two names on the headstone, Professor Anderson shares the burial site with another person who was laid to rest there many years earlier, as part of the cemetery’s burial arrangements.
