Landowners Mark World Earth Day | Loop PNG To commemorate World Earth Day on 22 April in the country, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its PNG Lukautim Graun Program (LGP) supported traditional landowners.

Kamapim Ltd and WCS has been supporting landowners to create conservation deeds to preserve, protect and manage their land in a traditional based system .

Yikmol landowner group, a consortium of 96 tribal clans, to help formalise their conservation efforts. With a sustainable agricultural model with Kamapim Ltd., a subsidiary of the international Envirium Life Sciences Group, that yielded good income as well as forest protection.

Kamapim's director and WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society) staff were interviewed by Cyrus Pomat from Manus NBC radio on Tuesday (27/07/21). They talked about the role that Vanilla (and other crops) can play in supporting conservation of traditional land and forests.

Over 4,000 vanilla farmers in Madang Province will receive training on vanilla farming through a new partnership signed between kamapim and -supported Market Development Facility (MDF).

MDF PNG will support Kamapim to recruit new extension officers to train farmers in remote communities in Bogia, Sumgilbar and Middle Ramu to produce and supply high-grade vanilla beans.

This partnership will enable farmers to increase production of quality vanilla beans and earn more for their hard work. It will also provide Kamapim with a stable sourcing base for a consistent supply of quality vanilla beans to secure better markets.
