Let us begin by introducing one of our student who is in Vanimo, Sundaun province. His name is Vicar Joel Taiye. Joel Taiye comes from Morobe Partrol Post in a village called Popoe, in Zaka Circuit, Kote District. He is a son of the retired pastor, Pr. Taiye Zawia.
Joel is currently doing is vicarage training at Waraston Lutheran Church in Vanimo, and is supervised by Pr. Brian Haay. While in Waraston congregation, his training also requires assisting other pastor in congregations such as Jayah Neyaukono Lutheran church, Calvary Lutheran church and also visiting Aitape Disaster Area where two Lutheran church are located, they are Trinity congregation and Exodus congregation. He also travels to the boarder of Papua New Guinea and Indonesia to visit and assist Pastors at St. Gloria, Tapos, Uospi and Bewan Lutheran churches.
When asked about his experience, he said, " Though the congregations are far apart, it does not bother me, because it is wonderful to meet new people and new environment. People are always eager to hear the gospel preached by visiting clergy men which motivates me to travel the distance."
Vicar Joel Taiye will complete all his Vicarage requirement at the end of this month.
Let us join together to thank God for giving to the church this dedicated young man.
