How to save pumpkin seeds! (Tok Pisin video)

Savings your own seeds good in so many ways - save money, develop crops more suited to your area and for particular characteristics (remember to save from your best plants), preserve traditional crops and varieties, and build independence and sustainability for your garden. Local varieties are often more tasty and nutritious than commercial seeds too. Perhaps you can even save enough to share with others or sell - especially when value-added as seedlings!

Over the last few weeks we've shared other seed saving videos, so visit our page for more. And big thanks to the World Vegetable Center for the videos - check them all out at https://www.youtube.com/user/WorldVegetableCenter

In a place like Lae where there is an abundance of local fruits from all over the Morobe province and the Highlands, smoothies full of delicious and health-promoting fruits and vegetables are a great idea. To make a smoothie, peel fruits such as watermelon, pineapple, strawberry and cut into pieces, add a squeeze of lemon and half cup of kulau (coconut water), blend and it's ready to serve. Rich in vitamins and minerals, you can have smoothies at any time of the day.
