Notice to all continuing and new students of PNG UNRE 2026

𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟮 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

Applications are now open for the Alf & Mary Lou Uechtritz CleanGen Scholarship Program for second-year students in 2026 studying at PNG University of Technology or PNG University of Natural Resources and Environment.

Closing date is Thursday, 29 January 2026.

PNG University of Natural Resources and Environment (PNG UNRE) will shut down for the festive season at 4:06pm on Wednesday, 24 December 2025.

Staff resume duty on Friday, 2 January 2026, while the University reopens to the public on Monday, 5 January 2026.

The PNG UNRE Council and Management sincerely thank all staff, students, sponsors, alumni, partners, and other stakeholders for their support in 2025 and look forward to continued collaboration in 2026.

𝗣𝗡𝗚 𝗨𝗡𝗥𝗘 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲

PNG UNRE has taken a major step in strengthening climate and ocean research with the University Council approving the establishment of the Momis Ocean and Climate Research Institute.

The institute, named in honour of UNRE Chancellor Chief Dr John Momis, will focus on ocean systems, climate change impacts, sea-level rise, coral bleaching and marine ecosystems—issues of critical importance to Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.

Council also approved a planned coastal expansion, including the gradual relocation of the School of Environment and Climate Change to Kurakakaul, where a new climate research and teaching hub will be developed to support field-based learning and international research collaboration.

Papua New Guinea University of Natural Resources and Environment advises students, parents, sponsors, and stakeholders that the amended 2026 School Fees Structure is now available.

This version replaces the previously withdrawn document and should be used for all fee payments and registration planning for the 2026 academic year.

📌 Key Dates & Important Information:

• Registration closes: 13 February 2026
• Lectures commence: Monday, 16 February 2026
• Late registration: 2 March 2026 (one day only) – K50 fee applies
