Today, 30th April 2026, Romen Grammar School proudly partnered with J5 Consultancy to carry out our monthly beach clean-up and plastic waste audit at the Kokopo beachfront.
With the support and active participation of our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students—alongside a mix of senior grades (Grades 6–8)—we continue to see strong involvement from our students in this important initiative.
🧹 Clean-Up Summary:
🕣 Time: 8:30am – 10:25am
👥 Participants: 15 students and J5 staff
🗑️ Total Collected: 5 bags of rubbish
2 x 50kg bags
3 x 25kg bags
This initiative is making a meaningful impact by teaching our students responsibility, environmental awareness, teamwork, and leadership through action.
We are grateful for another successful clean-up this month and are excited to continue this effort into May!
After the activity, students enjoyed light refreshments back at the school.

Romen Grammar School marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 9th Speech Day, 2nd Grade 8 Pioneer Graduation, and 8th Prep Graduation on the 12th of November. A total of 12 Grade 8 students graduated, marking another successful year for the school’s growing legacy.
The ceremony featured two guest speakers. Mr. Samson Paouria, Youth Representative from the East New Britain Youth Office, highlighted the importance of education in the midst of rising law and order issues in the province. He stressed that the foundation begins at home, urging parents to instill strong educational values in their children. The second speaker, Mr. Raphael Phillipo, an Early Childhood Trainer, emphasized the need for quality education and a strong early childhood foundation as essential building blocks for student success.
The speeches were followed by the school’s annual report presented by the School Administrator, Mrs. Mary Romen Julai, who outlined key achievements ,challenges and progress made throughout the year. The event concluded with the presentation of academic awards, beginning from the Early Childhood levels up to the Primary levels, celebrating students’ hard work and dedication.
The day was successful, with parents, guardians, and teachers joining the students to celebrate this significant milestone of the school.

On Saturday, 8th November, Romen Grammar School proudly hosted its 2nd Grade 8 Pioneer Dinner Night, celebrating the achievements of its graduating students. The event brought together students, parents, teachers, and staff for an evening filled with inspiring speeches, award presentations, and a shared dinner. It was a memorable and meaningful celebration, marking an important milestone in the students’ education journey. A special highlight of the night was the candle-passing ceremony, a cherished school tradition symbolizing the passing of light, knowledge, and responsibility from the Grade 8 students to the Grade 7 class.
The event also highlighted the school’s remarkable progress and achievements over the years. From humble beginnings, Romen Grammar School has grown into a well-established institution providing quality education and nurturing young minds. The dinner night stood as a reflection of the school’s continued commitment to excellence, community involvement, and its mission to empower students to strive exceedingly above limits in all areas of life.

At Romen Grammar School the "Healthy Lunch & Save Pikinini Workshop" kicked off on October 14th with an inspiring lineup of sessions promoting health and wellness among families and the community within the vacinity of Toburutue village, Bitapaka LLG.
Day 1 featured insightful presentations by health professionals on understanding diabetes, a community leader highlighting healthy local food options, a physiotherapy professional leading an engaging physical fitness session, and a school administrator sharing valuable tips on preparing healthy lunches for students.
On Day 2 (October 15th), the program continued with health checks for community members, mothers and students, and polio vaccinations for early childhood learners, provided by dedicated health professionals from Tapo Health Center. The day concluded with a fun volleyball tournament, fitness exercises, and refreshing healthy juice options for all participants.
A special highlight of the day was the certificate presentation, where participants were recognized for their involvement. Certificates were presented by the Young Pacific Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Youth Ambassadors, Wendy Julai and Chrislyn Julai, who also served as the main organizers of the 2-day workshop.
The initiative was proudly organized in collaboration with Romen Grammar School and the Pacific Community (SPC).
It was a truly successful and empowering event, building awareness, and a shared commitment to healthier lifestyles in our education and the community.

Our school proudly joined the nation in celebrating Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Anniversary.
This golden jubilee marks not only 50 years of nationhood, but also the resilience, culture, and unity that define us as Papua New Guineans. Our students, staff, and community came together through vibrant performances, flag-raising, traditional dances, and reflections of how far our country has come—and the future we are building together.

Romen Grammar School celebrates National Book Week 2025 ✨
One of the highlights of our celebration was the “Characters on Parade” event, where students dressed up as their dream professions, showcasing the hope and ambition they carry for the future. From doctors, teachers, pilots, and engineers, to leaders and innovators — our students proudly reflected the bright futures they aspire to build.
This year’s theme, “Reading Our Past, Transforming Our Future” 🐝📚🌎, reminded us of the power of books and learning in shaping who we are and who we are yet to become.
