Congratulations to our 2026 Leigh Vial Scholarship recipients!

GGS is proud to celebrate six deserving students who have been selected as recipients of the Leigh Vial Scholarship for 2026:

Aphrol Unua
Mercy Kauga
Dabijane Pupune
Pauline Paul
Paleh Kambia

The Leigh Vial Scholarship honours the memory of Flight Lieutenant Leigh Grant Vial, whose wartime service in Papua New Guinea created a lasting legacy of courage, connection and service. Today, that legacy continues through the generosity of his nephew, Brian Vial, who has turned it into meaningful education support for students in Papua New Guinea.

Through this scholarship, all six recipients will have their Term 3 and Term 4 tuition fees covered. Boarding fees will also be covered for Sammylyn, Aphrol, Mercy, Dabijane and Pauline.
This support not only eases the financial burden on families, but also empowers these students to continue their education with confidence, focus and hope for the future.

Congratulations to our 2026 recipients. We are excited to see you continue to learn, grow and make the most of this wonderful opportunity.

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Friends of Goroka Grammar School,

Please take note of the updated Term 2 closing arrangements:

📅 Tuesday 16 June – School closes for the term break
📚 18–19 June – Classes for Grades 10 & 12 only
👩‍🏫 22–26 June – Teachers’ Professional Development Week (Students on holiday)
🌴 29 June–3 July – Teachers’ Holiday and students’ second week holiday
🎒 Monday 6 July – Term 3 begins for all grades

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We wish all our students, families, and staff a safe, peaceful, and happy Term 2 holiday.

Today, more than 92,000 students across 554 secondary schools throughout Papua New Guinea are taking part in this important national examination, which contributes 30% of their final English grade.

As you put pen to paper, remember that this is your opportunity to express your ideas, showcase your creativity, and demonstrate everything you have learned. Trust your preparation, stay focused, and believe in yourself.

What a day to remember! 🏃‍♂️🔥
Our Athletics Carnival held on Friday 24th April at National Sports Institute was a huge success. A big thank you to NSI for providing the venue and to our very own PNG athletes for their support on the day.

We also appreciate everyone who came out to cheer, your energy made all the difference.
