Why does Dark Souls feel so motivating—even beyond the game?
A qualitative study applies Self-Determination Theory (autonomy, competence, and relatedness) to explore how Dark Souls and its online communities can foster motivation.
Key findings:
⚔️ Competence: difficulty and “learning through failure” strengthen perseverance.
🧭 Autonomy: meaningful choices and exploration enhance a sense of agency.
🤝 Relatedness: the community (e.g., on Reddit) provides belonging, emotional support, and collaboration.
📌 A valuable contribution to video game psychology and to designing experiences that promote intrinsic motivation and social connection.

🔍 New editorial in INTERACCIONES
Is regulation ready for the use of generative AI in mental health support in low- and middle-income countries?
A recent editorial explores the ethical and regulatory gaps in using models like ChatGPT to support mental health in regions such as Latin America.
The article highlights urgent risks:
⚠️ Privacy concerns over sensitive data
⚠️ Lack of safety and transparency standards
⚠️ Absence of robust clinical evidence
⚠️ Risk of reinforcing cultural and linguistic biases
📌 Without adapted regulation, implementation may deepen health disparities and create new forms of digital inequity.

🌟 in INTERACCIONES: Predicting Depression During Pregnancy Through Emotional Intelligence, Parental Care, Anxiety, and Stress 🌟
A new regression model developed in this study accurately predicts the presence of depression during pregnancy based on key psychological and contextual factors. 🤰🧠 Conducted with 273 pregnant women, the research identified that emotional intelligence, parental care, and stress levels are significant predictors of maternal mental health.
The model successfully explained 82.4% of the variance in depression and achieved a 95.2% prediction accuracy, making it a highly reliable tool for identifying at-risk women. Findings revealed that higher stress, maternal overprotection, and being single or employed increase the likelihood of depression, while greater emotional clarity and balanced paternal care serve as protective factors.

🌟 in INTERACCIONES: The Impact of Harmonious Parent-Child Relationships on Psychological Well-being and Resilience 🌟

🧠 The findings show that quality parent-child interactions, including spending time together and setting clear boundaries, are key to fostering psychological well-being. Additionally, therapies such as family therapy, play therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) have proven to be effective in promoting healthier family relationships.
