📈For weeks now, temperatures throughout the world have been exceeding all previous records. Unfortunately, the current circumstances are consistent with estimates from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, so the widespread and strong heatwaves this year are worrying but not unexpected.

🌀Massive storm here in southern Brazil yesterday due to extra tropical bomb cyclone. The video shows a shell cloud over Florianópolis.
✝️At least three people were killed in the state of Parana.
🌬Gusts of 111kph were recorded at Afonso Pena Airport, according to the National Meteorological Institute (Inmet), but speeds reached up to 120kph in other areas.

🔥🌎This morning in South America, GOES East satellite shows a dense haze over Patagonia and Chile. Given the synoptic conditions, it seems this is smoke from the Australia bushfires, a good example of intercontinental transport of pollution in the Southern hemisphere.

The Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) from the European Commission developed daily maps in order to evaluate the impacts of the BULBUL cyclone. At least a dozen killed and several missing after it hit in Bangladesh and India, over 2 million people evacuated.
