This site is facilitated by educator, artist, and cultural and environmental activist, Angela O'Hara, PHD ABD, who has dedicated the past ten years of her life researching Amazonian art and traditional knowledge of this region.

One month ago, one of Peru's most celebrated artisans, Gloria Amusifuen, died after an illness. Her loss is deeply felt by her family and the community and country.

Gloria was owner of the "Metsa Kene" ceramic workshop in the community of San Francisco and worked tirelessly to preserve the millennia-old tradition of Shipibo-Conibo slip fired pottery. Her skill and imagination were unparalleled. She was also a cherished community leader and fought tirelessly for the preservation of her art and the rights of women in her community.

Gloria's legacy is continued by her family, her daughter, Meyli, who trained with her since a child and her partner, Wisley.
