Part of our course goes into aspects of language structure foundations and basic spoken Shipibo-Konibo. In this way, our students are able to engage on a more intimate level with the culture and people. Moreover, by learning to think in Shipibo, their medicine language expands! Learning spoken Shipibo does help with your icaros believe it or not!
Below is Xawan Rabi, one of our teachers, demonstrating basic Shipibo greetings 😃 Axenon Ikanwe! Let's learn together!
Thank you! Irake to everyone who has signed up so far! Our morning sessions are almost full, but we still have space in our afternoon group. 😃 Classes begin September 4th!

How many times can you identify the root word "make" here? This Noma Noma icaro, which is all about polishing and releasing your song, is one of the bewabo (songs) we study during Module 1 from day 1. We make sure we take you through a grammatical understanding of what Shipibo-Konibo healers are singing so that you can apply these language structures to your own work.

Maestro Diógenes sings this bewa for the Temple of the Way of Light, made freely available on youtube. This is one of the bewabo (songs) that we study during Module 1! By the end of Module 1 you are able to identify many of the root words and suffixes here. One of the basic principles we learn during our first class is that Shipibo-Konibo is an aglutinative language, so get ready to think, sing, and speak Shipibo Joi!
