Comencé a enseñar en ICPNA Cusco en 1999. Me recibieron con mucho cariño. En ese entonces la sede quedaba en la Av. Tullumayo. Hoy estamos en un edificio más moderno en la Av. Los Incas. 26 años después sigo sintiendo el mismo cariño y aprecio de mis colegas, administrativos y directivos. Aquí siempre me siento en casa.

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲: 𝗜𝗻, 𝗢𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘁

These prepositions are used to describe time and follow specific rules depending on the level of specificity. Here's a breakdown of their use:

1. IN

Used for longer, less specific periods of time.

Examples:

Centuries: in the 20th century

Decades: in the 1990s

Years: in 2024

Months: in January

Weeks: in two weeks

Parts of the day: in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening

2. ON

Used for specific dates, days, or periods.

Examples:

Days of the week: on Monday, on Friday

Dates: on January 1st, on my birthday

Specific days: on Christmas Day, on New Year’s Eve

Difference:

In British English, people might say at the weekend.

In American English, they say on the weekend.
(e.g., "I’ll visit you at the weekend" vs. "I’ll visit you on the weekend.")

3. AT

Used for exact times and specific points in time.

Examples:

Clock times: at 5:00 PM, at noon, at midnight

Specific times of day: at dawn, at sunset

Festivals/celebrations: at Christmas, at Easter

Mealtimes: at breakfast, at dinner

General Rule of Thumb:

In → Larger time frames

On → Specific days or dates

At → Precise times or fixed points

𝗪𝗛𝗢 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗧?
Christmas dinners are usually an opportunity to eat, drink and be merry. But this year, one family in Poland got more than they bargained for. They also got very, very high.

After enjoying a shared meal on Christmas Eve, a family of 14 began to experience dizziness and problems balancing, with the children developing stomach pain and vomiting, local media reported.

Firefighters checked the home for a carbon monoxide leak, but when nothing was found, the family was taken by ambulance to hospital. Tests revealed there was cannabis in the body of each family member.

The culprit? A cannabis-based product used for medicinal purposes had been diluted in cooking oil by a family member, which was then used to accidentally fry the festive dishes, according to media reports.

🔴 𝐒𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐄
💁🏻‍♂️ En los primeros ciclos de A1 (Basic) te enseñamos el Simple Present para que puedas expresar hábitos y, por otro lado, acciones o estados que son verdades permanentes. Te coloco un ejemplo para cada uno de estos usos:
1️⃣ I walk for an hour everyday.
2️⃣ Millions of tourist visit Machu Picchu every year.

🔬 Y dentro de las verdades permanentes podemos incluir a las leyes científicas:
3️⃣ Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius at sea level.

👨🏻‍🏫 Pero, este no es solamente un tema que te enseñemos en los niveles más básicos. También te enseñamos en B1 (Intermediate) que puedes usar el Simple Present para referirte a acciones programadas que sucederán en el futuro:
4️⃣ Professor's Brown lecture starts tomorrow at 9 o'clock in the morning.

⏳ Y así también te enseñamos en B2 que el Simple Present se puede utilizar para narrar eventos que estén sucediendo en el mismo momento en que los observas (en lugar de usar el Present Continuous) e incluso narrar eventos del pasado o del futuro (ejemplos en las imágenes de este post).
