2025 marked a global milestone for quantum science.

We celebrated 100 years of quantum mechanics with the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. But what did this global year really achieve?

As the sole UN agency with a mandate in basic sciences, UNESCO was designated to lead the Year’s activities and initiatives to ensure quantum science and technology benefit everyone, everywhere.
