Ever had a moment where you feel like you have it completely together as a professional trying to speak like a native English speaker?

Yeah, me neither 😂 ...and I’m from Canada!

But I DO feel the same when I am speaking either French or Spanish, like I am closer to being happy with where I am at on the days when I remind myself that effective communication is more important than sounding perfect. Just focusing on clarity, confidence, and continuous learning helps me more than mimicking every native accent nuance.

Back when I first started improving my English, I spent hours trying to perfect every little sound, often feeling frustrated and inadequate. Then, I shifted my focus to understanding context, using idiomatic expressions naturally, and maintaining a positive attitude. Gradually, I noticed significant improvements in both my confidence and my professional interactions.

How about you? What is your trick to remind yourself that you don’t need to sound perfect to make a real impact?
