Infectious Disease Education Association - IDEA Infectious Disease Education Association (IDEA)specializes in educating professionals and the public on issues of global infectious diseases. Dra.

Global in Diagnostic Disease Education (GID2E) specializes in broadening global awareness of infectious disease by educating students about the diagnosis, pathology, and treatment of infectious disease. GiD2E offers medical and scientific educational opportunities to students in the basic science of diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases while providing medical assistance to other countries. In addition to raising awareness about infectious disease on a global scale, GID2E offers educational opportunities to U.S. students interested in studying infectious disease medicine in Peru. GiD2E’s introductory course is an intensive, 7 day course in tropical medicine and infectious disease, which is taught in Iquitos, Peru (9-10 days with travel). The course consists of clinical rotations, lectures, a jungle clinic, lab rotation, a day with a local shaman, and much more. GID2E officers: Van Adams, CEO; John Adlish, President; Carlos Saenz Bocanegra, Director, Field Operations; Dr. Moises Sihuincha, Head, Clinical Infectious Disease; Dr. Gregorio Heredia, Head Clinical Operations, Peru; Dr. Percy Inga, Chief of Surgery, Es Salud. Just a little to add about transmission.

28/06/2020

The data is very clear. Masks greatly reduce droplet transmission of CoViD. Just to add to the discussions about masks, many people are not understanding that a mask will block droplets and much of the aerosolization of the smaller droplets.

Additionally, hospitals are seeing increases of younger patients as well. Viruses infect everyone. Some people show few or less dangerous symptoms. But you will not know how you will react until you’re infected.

For CoViD testing, RT-PCR tests for the virus’ genetic material. A positive result means one has the virus.

Antibody tests, like ELISA, test for antibody. If you are positive it means you have the virus OR you recovered. You CAN have both antibody and the virus because you’re immune system is trying to clear the virus.

To determine if you DO NOT have the virus anymore, a repeat of RT-PCR is the test. No genetic material = no virus. But, you will also have antibodies that are protecting you.

Correction. 6% global mortality. U.S. is 4.3%

14/04/2020

World mortality rate for coronavirus = 0.6%. U.S. = 4% currently.

13/04/2020

This is not popular in the U.S., but it works. Test everyone, trace contacts, and allow the recovered, virus free, individuals back to work or Into the economy. It saves lives AND the economy.

Don’t forget, Coronavirus can linger in the air for 45 minutes indoors. Wear a mask while grocery shopping!

19/03/2020

South Korea’s mortality rate for Covid-19 is now at 0.6%

Listen to what scientists say about coronavirus. Virologists know a lot about these viruses. The media only seems to interview M.D.s, sorry my physician friends, but there is a difference.
