International Darwin Day 12/02/2018

Happy Darwin Day! February 12th marks an international holiday intended to celebrate the remarkable life and discoveries of Charles Darwin (born February 12th, 1809) as well as the impacts scientific inquiry has had on the world leading up to today. Darwin’s acclaimed book, On the Origin of Species, deeply challenged society’s conception of where it came from, sparking both controversy and inspiration worldwide. The dawn of the theory of evolution ushered in an entirely new era of biological study. Thanks, Darwin, and happy birthday!

International Darwin Day Darwin Day is an organization whose mission is to inspire people throughout the globe to reflect and act on the principles embodied in Charles Darwin.

Real entomologists catch flies with their fingers ft. Sean Perez

Tachinid flies are parasitoids and lay their eggs on or near a host insect. The tachinid fly larvae then eat the host insect from the inside-out. This spiny tachina fly (Paradejeania rutilioides) parasitizes moth and butterfly larvae.
