http://www.alouattasanctuary.org/ www.alouattasanctuary.wordpress.com We were founded in June 2012.

Alouatta Sanctuary is the only wildlife sanctuary in Panama that specializes in the rehabilitation of the mantled howler monkey, Alouatta palliata. Our mission is to protect native wildlife while creating unique opportunities for students, volunteers, and guests to learn about or participate in tropical forest conservation.

The truth is, there is no magic to Wildlife Rehabilitation. It's a whole lot of hard work, biology, critical thinking and dedication. But when you see the animals you know and love living out their purpose it sure feels magical. Congrats Ace on your new baby! We are all thrilled beyond belief! Photo Credit: Nele Ranger.

One of the most rewarding and important things we can do is assist these incredible animals back to the wild. Good luck out there Zita!

Many thanks to interns Timo and Anais for facilitating her release.

The BBC recently came out to document the amazing story of Nina the Howler Monkey. In honor of TBT ... here are some of our favorites over the years. Thank you to everyone who submitted a photo of Nina's "childhood". Nina is now a full grown howler living life in the jungle. A true example of how and why our rehab methods are working!! We are so proud.

As usual these Students Without Borders were an overwhelming DELIGHT! Thanks again Dave Fehr for being a great leader and enriching our Conservation project! Also, many thanks to the Ngobe team for being our greatest teachers.

For those of you who have not had the pleasure ... Meet the youngest howler currently in rehab, Ollie. His rehab process has been going very well. He is an alpha male in the making. (Photo Credit: Megane Beuscart)
