Panama is not widely known for it's cusine. Flavours are not usually too strong and typical ingredients include maize, rice, wheat flour, plantains, yuca (cassava), beef, chicken, pork and seafood.
Sancocho is Panama's national dish. It originates from the Azuero region. It's similar to a chicken stew or soup, made with chicken, corn on the cob and starchy vegetables such as cassava.
