The Gold IA recce for and has been a roaring success! Mr Snell and Mr Plantchant report that after a 7-hour drive through the desert and a hot, sticky night, the adventure route is now set.

Right in the heart of the Rub’ al Khali, the team came across a fascinating natural water well with an unexpected history. It was originally discovered around 50 years ago during oil exploration. The sulphur-rich water rises from around 150m below the desert floor and flows continuously and yes, it’s said to be great for the skin!

An unforgettable base camp at Arabian Sand Tours, hosted by Mohammed — an incredible landscape, and a reminder of just how full of surprises this desert really is.

As we continue to celebrate the incredible places and experiences that make life in Oman so special, Wahiba Sands has to be one of the country's most spectacular destinations.

Picture bright orange dunes stretching as far as the eye can see, warm sand between your toes, breathtaking sunsets and endless opportunities for family adventure.

Sandboarding is an exciting sport where you glide down the dunes on a board, much like snowboarding. It's a fun and thrilling way to experience the beauty of the desert from a completely different perspective.
