How it started vs how it’s going… 🫣🤣 Here at Playcentre there are no set outcomes for activities - instead we follow and support our tamariki’s ideas and exploration because this allows them to learn far more than they would following our plan 🥰 A lot of fun was had saying yes to the mess this week!

Our once cheerful fence had definitely seen better days 😅 thanks to Mitre 10 Pahiatua we have been able to refresh our back area and create an easily maintainable and usable area for our tamariki’s imaginations to run wild!

Tuesday was a beautiful crisp Autumn day - perfect for harvesting ripe apples 🍎 from our Playcentre tree to bake crumble. Tamariki enjoyed peeling, cutting and tasting 🤭 the apple as they worked together. Another interest was sawing and hammering fallen branches 🪚 gathered after all the wind we have had. Was great to see them take inspiration from their surroundings! 🍂

Busy hands 🤗 we love to see it! Exciting to watch tamariki interpret invitations to play - we see so many different outcomes being sparked by the same materials. Supporting their ideas and processes helps them develop into confident and passionate learners 💛 this is an important goal we have at Playcentre!

Our tamariki had a blast getting MESSSSYYYY this week, keeping things low is a great way for all ages to explore and become curious. There is so much learning taking place when tamariki engage multiple senses like this - and Playcentre is the perfect environment for it! 🌋🪏🎨🚗🫧
