Well done to the 4 Winton School teams who took part in the Marie Murphy Technology Challenge at Waianiwa School yesterday. Congratulations to Winton 2 (Rimon, Poppy, Harlyn and Charlotte) who placed third in the Year 7&8 section!

Well done to Allie, Deena (Yr 5&6) and Bailley (Yr 7&8) who represented Winton School at the Central & Eastern Speech Competition at Limehills School last night. The quality of all speeches was exceptional. Congratulations to Allie who was awarded first place in the Year 5&6 competition. She now moves on to the Southland Finals being held in our School Hall on Monday 21st September!

Congratulations to Leo, Jesse and George - 3 players from the Year 7&8 Central Red Hockey team who had a successful season winning the Hockey Southland Junior High Boys' competition. Both the boys and girls teams won this year's revamped competition. Go Central!

Check out the amazingly talented Michaela Argyle! This is her story about designing a garment for the Hokonui Fashion Design Awards all the way to the runway at New Zealand Fashion Week!

Hi, my name is Michaela and this is the story of my dress. In early May, I started designing my dress for the Hokonui Fashion Design Awards 2026. I thought up an idea of a graffiti dress with rubbish bags. I used the rubbish bags for some ruffles, puff sleeve and straight sleeve. I used real spray paint and chose some symbols to paint onto my dress. Once my dress was finished, I entered it in the Hokonui Fashion Awards in the School Gala section, against high school/college students. I was lucky enough to go watch it walk the runway. A few days after we went to go pick it up, I was told the news that one of the judges, Dan Ahwa, creative director of NZ Fashion Week, wanted to take my garment and a few others up to New Zealand Fashion Week! Before they sent it up, it was displayed in a fashion shop in Dunedin. Then they sent it to Auckland where it went down the runway making me the youngest designer to have a garment in NZFW.
