Harakeke Creations!

Our kaiako Toko brought in some harakeke (flax) for our tamariki to create their very own headbands or bracelets. 🌿

On this particular day, we had a smaller group, which meant we were able to spend some extra time with each tamaiti, helping them along and making sure they understood what they were doing.

We came away with some awesome creations, and it’s something we all absolutely love doing! It was so special seeing the tamariki get creative and have a go 🌿

What an awesome way to finish off the school holidays! 🎉

This week we had Princess & Ninja Dress Up Day, a super fun Messy Day (which was an absolute hit with the kids!), a bike ride and ice cream at the park, Crazy Dress Up Party Day, and a visit to the library.

We also had the amazing opportunity to have Big Brothers Big Sisters Coromandel join us for some cookie decorating! 🍪 It was awesome seeing them interact with the kids and getting a better understanding of the incredible work they do in our community. A huge thank you to the BBBS team for coming along and being part of our holiday programme!

It’s been an amazing two weeks packed with fun, laughter, creativity, and plenty of great memories. Thank you to all the families who joined us—we can’t wait to see everyone again next holidays! 💙

What an awesome first week of the holidays! We kicked things off with Dress Up & Talent Show Day, where everyone got involved and showed off their amazing talents. We had our Pop-Up Shop Burger Day (the kids were very happy to find out the burgers were actually real! 🍔), headed to the movies to watch Minions, and finished the week by planting sunflower seeds. Thanks to all our OSCAR Explorers whānau for another great week.
We can’t wait to see what week two brings!

Teacher’s Only Day on Wednesday the 3rd was packed full of fun, creativity, art, and exciting activities! The day was filled with laughter, learning, and plenty of memorable moments. We hope all of our tamariki went home with lots of stories to tell and great memories from their day with us! ✨

What a fantastic Sports Day! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Today our tamariki completed a loop around the school, jogging from station to station and spreading kindness along the way. The children stopped to create and leave positive notes around the school, sharing encouraging messages and brightening the day of others. It was wonderful to see their teamwork, positivity, and caring attitudes on display.

We also wanted to share some of the amazing artwork our tamariki created with Misun during our small group art sessions last Friday. The children had so much fun expressing their creativity and were very proud of their masterpieces!

We are in need of another wonderful staff member who is passionate about kids, positive, reliable and professional.

Afterschool hours a few days a week til 5:15 during term and longer flexible shifts during holidays.

This is suited to someone that would eventually lead the shift, aged over 20 and with a full drivers licence.

Before any candidate can be offered a position they would need to complete a police vet.

The last few weeks at OSCAR Explorers have been super busy! We’ve been getting creative with foil sculptures, clown making, and lots of painting 🎨✨

On Thursdays and Fridays, Misun has been running small art sessions with our tamariki, and they have absolutely been loving them! 💛

Week 2 done! 🎉

Did you know we run sports and games afternoons every Tuesday? Our awesome kaiako Misun also leads arts and crafts on Thursdays, along with painting and drawing sessions on both Thursday and Friday 🎨

It’s been such an awesome week, and the tamariki have really gotten involved and given everything a go Ka pai, tamariki! 🥳
