We are a busy early childhood education centre based in Whatawhata, just outside of Hamilton.
Our amazing centre cook has been headhunted to be a regional catering manager, so we are looking for an amazing cook/homemaker to join our team in a part time role (30 hours per week).
Our centre homemaker is an integral part of our education team, providing nutritionally balanced, freshly prepared meals for children as well as being responsible for the smooth running of the kitchen and laundry.
Your work will often be unsupervised, so effective time management and organisation is key, as is being knowledgeable about nutritious food, food safety requirements, having a friendly disposition and able to communicate well with others. This is a physically demanding job so being fit and healthy is also a must.
A food safety certificate is desirable but not essential, as we will organise training for the chosen candidate.
Some key tasks of the homemaker shall be:
• Planning a nutritious and varied menu that meets age, dietary and cultural needs of all children, within a budget
• Preparing and serving food every day for children and cleaning up eating areas after meals
• Maintaining and cleaning the kitchen, including ordering stocks and supplies online
• Managing the health and safety requirements of National Programme Level 2
• Managing the laundry needs of the centre
The kitchen is the hub for our team so even though you will work unsupervised, you will have lots of team interaction.
We are a great team to work with and offer

*provide a uniform
*paid day off on your birthday
*annual flu vaccination
*professional development opportunities
