Over the weekend, our AIMS athletes will head off to Tauranga to represent Matarau School at the upcoming 2026 AIMS Games.

We wish the very best of luck to our Hockey and Netball teams, as well as our athletes competing in individual events: rock climbing, table tennis, and gymnastics. We know you will represent our kura with pride, determination, and outstanding sportsmanship. All the best to everyone competing, we will keep you updated on their progress throughout the week!

WPSSA Cross Country – Excellence in Action

Congratulations to ALL of our amazing students who represented Matarau School at the WPSSA Cross Country at Barge Park yesterday. We are incredibly proud of the effort, determination and sportsmanship shown by every student.

Sports Excellence: Our championship-winning Whangārei Netball team bringing home the trophy!

Inspiration on the Court: Learning from netball legend Temepara Bailey during an unforgettable clinic.

Academic Drive: Our Year 5/6 Mathex team giving it their absolute all and shining on the big stage.

Community & Leadership: Welcoming World Champion boxer Lani Daniels to inspire our tamariki at our school hui.

Creative Passion: Our Marimba group practicing hard and bringing vibrant music to our school.

Hiranga isn't just about taking home awards—it’s about giving 100% effort, supporting your team, and taking pride in everything you do.

Highlights from the Marimba Festival!!

Our MAGNIFICENT Marimba group had a blast at the Festival on Saturday! Our school values of excellence, respect, resilience and community were on full show and shining bright. Very proud of their gigantic efforts. It was a different experience, and a lot of fun, playing with other young musicians from our district.

🏐 AIMS Netball | Learning from the Best! 🏐

Our AIMS Netball team had an awesome opportunity to learn from some New Zealand netball royalty, Temepara Bailey! 🇳🇿

The team gained some fantastic tips, skills and insights through some awesome coaching as they prepare for their upcoming AIMS Games campaign.

🌱 Calling all budding young gardeners! 🌱

Matarau School’s Annual Home Garden competition is about to get underway once again!

This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to get their hands dirty, connect with nature, and learn the invaluable lifelong skill of gardening. Whether they're complete beginners or seasoned green thumbs, we can't wait to see what they grow!

Come hang out with your friends, enjoy a fun movie night, and have dinner sorted for just $20!

Year 4-8's, come join us at the school hall for Camp Rock 3 on Friday 28th August at 6pm. Your ticket includes entry, 2 pieces of pizza, French fries and a drink, all you need to bring is a chair or cushion to sit on!

Most importantly, your support will help our Matarau School Intermediate Netball Team with the large costs of getting our team to AIMS Games in September.

So grab your friends, come along for a fun night, and help us get our team to AIMS!
