There has been some exciting conversations unfolding at kindy the last two days, while we watch Ventia at work on Farmers Street. This has been a great opportunity to extend prior interests around the diggers in the sandpit and keeping safe in the community. From next week we have been asked that whanau use the top entrance gate on Boswell Street.

Here at Te Kamo Kindergarten, we are proud of our achievements as a Bronze Enviroschool. We are currently busy working toward our Silver Award and hope to achieve this in term 2 of next year.

Recently we have put together the attached pamphlet to celebrate and highlight what being an Enviroschool means to us. Including our Kindergarten vision “Ko mātou ngā purapura mo te wā ~ We are the children of the future”

We hope you enjoy reading this and learning a bit more about our kaupapa.

Kia ora whānau,

Following the Ministry of Health's announcement yesterday of the Covid19 case detected in Northland, we wanted to share the following info.

- If you have visited any of the locations indicated by the Ministry of Health (link below) and are feeling unwell, please get tested.
- Please keep your children at home if you are unwell and help us to keep our community safe.
- Continue to use the Covid contact tracing app when visiting Kindy.
- Please write down your phone number in the space provided on the daily sign in sheets.
- Please use hand sanitiser located next to sign in sheet upon arrival.

As always, we are being guided by the experts and as such our kindergarten is operating as per usual, keeping things as normal and safe as possible for our tamariki.

Keep safe, be kind, be patient and take care of yourselves and each other. 😉

Locations of interest for people who may be 'casual contacts' of COVID-19 cases in the community. While risk from these locations is most often very low, casual contacts who attended one of the locations during the relevant timeframes are asked to stay at home, get a test and wait until a negative r...

A great read from Janet about the top gifts for encouraging child-directed play.

In case you haven’t noticed, play is hot. Once taken for granted as a universal childhood right, in the last decades aggressive marketers of early learning products and a focus on standardized testing have horned in on this valuable developmental time in a child’s life. But lately it seems our c...

Here is a fun story/ song that we love to watch/ listen to at Kindergarten for this rainy day... I wonder if you and your tamariki can make up some actions to go with it?

Have a great day.

Be kind, stay safe, kia kaha.

Morena whanau.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend in your bubbles. This morning I have recorded a time lapse of an easy art activity using chalk, tape and my deck... you could also use concrete or timber... I kept mine quite small as I didn't have a lot of chalk, but you could make this as large as you wanted.

Kia pai to ra!

Be kind, stay safe, kia kaha.

Paula 🙂
