Another huge shout out to our fabulous Community Tutors doing the mahi in Whakapara!
We're beyond grateful to have such dedicated and passionate individuals making a real difference in the community. Their tireless efforts are truly inspiring, and we're honored to be a part of it!
CEW is proud to be supporting the following mahi with tutors Maria Nepia teaching raranga, a traditional Māori weaving art form, alongside Mereline Horsford teaching kūmarahau gummies and lollipops, a fun and interactive way to learn about Māori culture. We're thrilled to see the participants' faces light up as they learn and create together!
Photos attached are of both classes, showcasing the amazing work being done and the joy it brings to everyone involved. CEW thanks the participants for letting us share this valuable work with you all, and we can't wait to see what's next!

Whether you're promoting a small business, sprucing up a community newsletter, or just want your social media to look a little more polished, this hands-on course will show you how. Using a range of free online tools, you'll learn how to improve and fix photos, resize and prepare images for web and print, and combine images and text to create simple graphics, all without needing any design experience. Adult Learners' Week - He Tangata Mātauranga - September 7–13, 2026

Adult Learners' Week He Tangata Mātauranga is a UNESCO initiative celebrated in more than forty countries. We are part of an international movement dedicated to self-determination through learning.

ACE Aotearoa has celebrated this festival across the motu for more than twenty-five years. It’s a chance to showcase the learning on offer in our communities, acknowledge the achievements of learners who have returned to learning, and have fun.

Adult learning can take place in many different spaces and at many different levels of the community. Every week, thousands of adults are learning together in places like libraries, community centres, church halls, schools and marae. Through our annual festival, we want people to know that learning is joyful, directly linked to wellbeing, and even more powerful when we learn with others – building relationships and strengthening community as we go.

The aims of Adult Learners' Week are to:
* Celebrate learner success
* Raise the profile of community education and its benefits
* Encourage learning and make it accessible to all

Our budding photographers have been enjoying valuable one-on-one time with our talented photography tutor, Ian Taylor, gaining confidence and discovering the finer features of their cameras.
