MONDAY | TE WHARE TAPA WHĀ

A new week is a good time to check in with ourselves and our wellbeing.

Each Monday, we’ll share a simple Te Whare Tapa Whā reminder — small ways we can look after our tinana, hinengaro, wairua and whānau.

Because wellbeing is the foundation for everything we do.

This week, we’re focusing on taha hinengaro — our mental and emotional wellbeing. When we’re working towards mahi, study or our goals, our mindset matters.

Acknowledge your strengths — what do you bring?
Set your intention — what are you working towards?
Lean on your people — who can tautoko you?
Take action — what’s one thing you can do today?

Send the email. Make the call. Update your CV. Come see us for support. Apply for the role.

One small step can shift your mindset and move you forward.

Today we had a kōrero about who we are, who we’ve helped, how we can support rangatahi, and the work we do with young people who are NEETs (Not in Employment, Education or Training).

Thank you to the organisations who came along and supported the kaupapa. It was awesome to have you there, share the space, and come together with a common goal of supporting our rangatahi.

If you missed us today, give us a call or message to chat to the team about NEETs and our 26 week programme.

📍 Where was the TMET team yesterday?

We hit the road to Kaitaia, visiting our cookery Level 3 students at NorthTec.

It was a chance to introduce who we are, how we can support them, and introduce our newest team member, Missy, who’ll be supporting our Kaitaia students.

Great to get out and meet the students in person!

It was great to be at Te Kamo High School Careers Day last Thursday, connecting with rangatahi and their whānau and hearing about their aspirations for the future.

From building and electrical to nursing, childcare and more, it was awesome to see the variety of goals and career interests among the rangatahi.

We’re excited to be able to connect with some of our young people and be there to support their next steps — whether that’s further study, employment, apprenticeships or other career pathways.

A great evening meeting our community and seeing the excitement from whānau as they look towards what’s next.

Thank you Te Kamo High School for having us!

It's a real privilege to work alongside young people and help them into apprenticeship pathways with local Te Tai Tokerau trades businesses. It really does take a village collaborating supportively, for rangatahi to thrive in their bright futures here.

"At Aotea Electric Northland we value organisations that invest in people before they enter the workforce, preparing them to be ready to learn and contribute to our team from day one of their apprenticeship- Te Matarau does exactly that. Thank you!"
--Mike Hodgson, Managing Director.
