Last Friday, our Year 7 Cultural Enrichment group had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Auckland and join Moanaroa School in celebrating Tongan Language Week – Uike Lea Faka-Tonga.

It was an amazing experience for our students, who were welcomed with open arms and given the opportunity to enjoy delicious Tongan kai, experience cultural dance, and take part in a fun and competitive game of Rippa Rugby.

The day was a fantastic opportunity for our students to celebrate their culture, connect with others, and strengthen relationships between our school communities. It was awesome to see our students representing our school with pride and enthusiasm.

A huge thank you to Derek Temocama, our driver, and to Juliana’s parents for their incredible support and for helping make the trip possible. We truly appreciate your time, generosity and commitment to our students.

Finally, a very special mālō ‘aupito to the Tumuaki of Moanaroa School, Sialele Pulou, Assistant Principal Vaisima Langi, and the wonderful staff of Moanaroa School for hosting us and putting together such a fantastic celebration.

We are lucky to have the Ranfurly Shield coming to school on Thursday morning. We’ve put out a panui to kids to bring their Northland attire and gear if they want a group pic with the shield.

Up the Taniwha!
