Today we had the lovely Leyla from Kiwi North come and share the coolest mini beasts (insects) in New Zealand!

She shared all the different parts of a bug as well as how lucky we are in New Zealand that there are only a handful of bugs that can hurt us and the rest are really very gentle.

She also shared a really cool book called There’s a Weta on my Sweater! By Dawn McMillan that the tamariki really enjoyed!

If you have time and don’t know what to do make sure you go and visit Leyla at KiwiNorth too there is lots to see and explore!

🌟 Kaiako Spotlight – Chris 🌟

This week we are celebrating our wonderful Chris!

Chris is an incredible kaiako in our Pōtiki space, where her calm, thoughtful, and respectful approach creates a nurturing environment for our youngest tamariki to flourish.

With a strong philosophy in RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers), Chris believes in slowing down, truly listening to children, and respecting each baby as a capable and competent learner. She takes the time to build genuine relationships, allowing every child to feel safe, secure, and deeply valued as they explore the world at their own pace.

Chris has a beautiful way of connecting with our babies through patience, warmth, and meaningful interactions. She understands that the smallest moments often have the biggest impact, and her gentle approach helps build trust, confidence, and independence from the very beginning.

Outside of the centre, Chris has a love for horses, and her calm, caring nature shines through in everything she does. Her compassion, dedication, and genuine love for children make her a treasured member of our Pōtiki team.

Thank you, Chris, for the kindness, respect, and passion you bring to our centre every day. Your thoughtful teaching and unwavering commitment to our tamariki create the strong foundations that will stay with them for years to come.

We are so grateful to have you as part of our whānau. 💛✨

🌟 Kaiako Spotlight – Nishu 🌟

This week we are celebrating our wonderful Nishu!

Nishu brings so much warmth, energy, and joy to our Tuakana space each and every day. Her bubbly personality and caring nature help create a welcoming environment where children and whānau feel a true sense of belonging.

One of Nishu's greatest strengths is the meaningful relationships she builds with our families. She has a special ability to connect with whānau, particularly our Indian families, helping to strengthen partnerships and ensure everyone feels seen, valued, and included within our centre community.

Nishu is passionate about sharing her cultural knowledge and experiences with both tamariki and kaiako. She plays an important role in helping our team learn about and celebrate different cultural perspectives, enriching the learning experiences we provide for all children.

As the driving force behind our Diwali celebrations, Nishu creates beautiful opportunities for our centre whānau to come together, learn, and celebrate. Her dedication to honouring culture and fostering inclusivity helps create meaningful connections and a deeper understanding of the diverse world around us.

When she's not sharing her knowledge, you'll often find Nishu outside with our Tuakana tamariki, leading energetic dance parties filled with laughter, movement, and fun. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and her love of music and dance encourages children to express themselves with confidence and joy.

Thank you, Nishu, for the warmth, positivity, and cultural richness you bring to our centre every day. We are so grateful for the connections you nurture and the joy you share with our tamariki, whānau, and team. 💛✨

You help make our centre a vibrant place where everyone feels welcomed, celebrated, and connected.

Whether she is supporting our kaiako on the floor or lending a helping hand in the kitchen, Aaliyah always gives her all. She approaches every opportunity with enthusiasm and a can-do attitude, ensuring our tamariki, whānau, and team feel supported every step of the way.

Not only has Aaliyah been a huge help to our teaching team, but she has also stepped into the kitchen to create some delicious and nutritious meals for our children. Her willingness to take on new challenges and support wherever needed truly reflects her dedication and caring nature.
